OmniSky and vVault Enter into Strategic Development Agreement to Offer Email Attachment Viewing on Wireless Mobile Devices

vVault, a leading provider of mobile productivity solutions, together with OmniSky, the award-winning provider of branded wireless e-mail and Internet services for users of mobile devices, announced today the selection of the vVault Platform to power additional mobile productivity enhancements for all subscribers of OmniSky's wireless services. These enhancements will offer mobile professionals a richer wireless e-mail experience by allowing them to access corporate e-mail (Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes) attachments over any mobile device using the OmniSky service.

Access to -- and management of -- corporate e-mail, with attachment handling, is considered to be the wireless data capability users are most interested in, according to a recent survey by Telephia, an independent wireless research firm. Handheld users prized this feature the most, with 74 percent of them ranking it on their "top three" list.

The collaboration between vVault and OmniSky marks the first offer of full e-mail attachment access by a major wireless service on multiple platforms for multiple file formats. vVault's e-mail attachment view supports a number of popular business software formats including Microsoft Office documents, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word, and Adobe Acrobat PDF files, among others. Omnisky will offer this capability in future releases of its service.

"E-mail is without a doubt the killer app on the wireless Internet for mobile professionals, but to date, this experience has been limited by lack of attachment support," said Dave Rensin, OmniSky's chief strategy officer. "We believe our customers require a complete email solution, regardless of the technology they use. We chose the vVault Platform for its excellence in technical innovation and for its ability to deliver this solution via a rapid and highly integrated offering."

"OmniSky's selection of vVault as the partner to provide enhanced messaging and other productivity services marks a significant endorsement of vVault's Platform technology," said Will Aldrich, Vice President of Product Development at vVault. "We share OmniSky's vision to pioneer and promote innovative and useful wireless applications for the growing ranks of mobile professionals. Our XML API will enable us to add future applications which serve the needs of OmniSky's subscribers in the way that they prefer to work."
