OmniSky Introduces "Local" and "PDA" News Channels Optimized for Wireless Mobile Devices

Mobile professionals thrive on being connected and in the "know." To satisfy the need for immediate and relevant information, OmniSky Corporation (Nasdaq:OMNY), the award-winning provider of branded wireless e-mail and Internet services for users of mobile devices, announced today the introduction of two new content channels devoted to local and PDA information. "Local News" and "PDA News" offer OmniSky subscribers immediate access to the emerging trends and breaking news most relevant to them.

"Sixty percent of PDA owners use their devices every day," said Chris Weasler, OmniSky's senior director of interactive services. "Many of them thrive on staying connected through e-mail and value having relevant information at their disposal. OmniSky's new content channels help users stay up-to-date on tech trends as well as the latest news happening in their hometown or in the cities they travel to."

OmniSky subscribers can access the most current news being reported in cities nationwide simply by entering a city name or zip code within the OmniSky Local News channel. OmniSky has teamed with the most popular sources for online local news content and services including RealCities.com, whose coverage includes about a dozen cities in the United States, and LocalFrontPage.com, a comprehensive local news source organized by zip code. Online versions of The New York Post and The New York Times also are available.

Last year, PDA sales doubled to reach 6.1 million units according to a recent Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) survey. Now, these technology enthusiasts can easily find a wealth of information related to this rapidly growing market on OmniSky's new PDA News channel. Content comes from leading providers of online technology information including: PalmPower, the leading enthusiast publication on the Palm operating system; Smaller.com, a provider of insightful PDA news and technology reviews; VisorCentral.com, an expert source of information for Handspring Visor products; and PDABuzz.com, a user community offering the best in news, reviews, discussion, and products for mobile computing.

OmniSky's "Local News" can be found within both the News Channel and Local Channel, and "PDA News" can be found within the Technology Channel.

OmniSky customers using Palm and Handspring devices automatically receive the newest content channels whenever they use the HotSync function while their PCs are connected to the Internet. In the near future, PocketPC users will be able to receive the newest content by downloading it from the OmniSky website.
