Steltor Announces i-Mode Support and Targets Japanese Market With Toshiba Information Systems -Japan- Corporation

Mobile Edition calendaring solution developed for enterprises and service providers

Toshiba Information Systems (Japan) Corporation, Network Products Division, and Steltor, a world leader in time management communications, today announced the availability of the much-anticipated Mobile Edition calendaring client.

The new Mobile Edition offers users microbrowser access to calendaring and scheduling information on a mobile device, regardless of technology, country, language or time zone.

The Mobile Edition adds significant value to Steltor's time management communications solution, bringing i-Mode (c-HTML) capabilities to a product that already supports the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) standard, Wireless Markup Language (WML) and Handheld Device Markup Language (HDML). Available for the service provider and enterprise markets, the Mobile Edition provides users with a flexible microbrowser client that breaks down existing technology barriers between networks, software protocols and geographical location.

"The demand for calendaring services is growing in Japan," said Hiromichi Iehara, General Manager of Network Products Division at Toshiba Information Systems (Japan) Corporation. "Steltor's market leadership in developing this product will greatly benefit enterprise users and service providers. We're very excited that Steltor has released such a versatile, forward-looking solution that can satisfy the needs of all mobile users in the Japanese market."

Steltor's Mobile Edition lets users access their calendar, browse other people's calendars, maintain a list of favorite calendars to view and manage their time zones with a few simple commands. It also features a week view and access key mapping, which allows users to perform calendar operations using predefined numbers instead of scrolling down lists.

"Bringing i-Mode support to the Mobile Edition is an integral part of our vision to provide anytime, anywhere access to calendar information," said Andre Courtemanche, President and CEO of Steltor. "We're very proud to make this product available with our partner Toshiba Information Systems (Japan) Corporation. Users will appreciate the power of managing their calendars simply and efficiently, whether they're in Japan, Europe or North America."

Support for the i-Mode standard is of particular benefit to Japanese users. "For many Japanese users, i-Mode is the first and only method of access to the Internet," said Tole Hart of Dataquest/GartnerGroup. "The flexibility of offering a service with multiple browser support -- cHTML, WAP and down the road, xHTML --gives the user more freedom in choosing service providers in the Japanese market."

And with a universal standard for mobile Internet browsing still in question, support for i-Mode, WML and HDML makes Mobile Edition the ideal product for customers looking to protect their investment while letting users choose their own method of accessing calendar information. Operators and users alike will profit from the flexibility and ubiquitous access to calendar information offered by Mobile Edition.

The Mobile Edition is available for all Steltor's solutions: CorporateTime(R), Lexacom Calendar and Lexacom Enterprise Calendar. Steltor will attend the CTIA Wireless show from March 20-22, exhibiting products and presenting daily in the WAP Forum at Booth #L-1.
