Tegic Communications Announces T9 Text Input Capabilities for the Russian Language

Tegic Communications, a wholly owned subsidiary of America Online, Inc. (NYSE:AOL), announced today the availability of T9(r) Text Input for the Russian language.

T9 Text Input software, also commonly referred to as "predictive text input," enables the use of wireless communication services such as Short Messaging Service (SMS), mobile instant messaging and e-mail by allowing users to quickly and easily enter text and characters into their wireless phones.

"Many major Russian carriers are expanding their SMS capacities to meet the demand of anticipated growth," said Don Davidge, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Tegic Communications. "With T9 Text Input we're providing the industry's leading text entry solution for the Russian language. By licensing T9 Text Input for Russian now, mobile phone manufacturers and wireless carriers can stay ahead of the expected SMS boom."

With the addition of Russian, T9 Text Input software is now available in 23 languages worldwide, including Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean (Hangul), Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish.

The Company continues its aggressive development of T9 language databases for other languages, using a program of extensive quality assurance and user testing to ensure the highest quality.

There are more than 125 T9-enabled wireless phone models available throughout the world today. Most wireless phones with T9 software onboard can be equipped with one or more languages, giving users even more choices.
