The championship, developed and organized by AC&G Software Ltd., is the first to be created specifically for multiple players on a wireless platform. Players downloading the game to their handheld PCs are credited $500 in fun money. The more money a player wins in any given month, the better his or her chances of winning the $10,000 grand prize or any of several smaller prizes, including a big-screen television, a trip to Las Vegas, or casino chips.
As players accumulate money, they enter their scores on the BlackJack World Championship site scoreboard. The board is updated each day at 4:00 p.m. EDT.
BlackJack World Championship is completely advertising supported, enabling players to download and play the game for free. The site offers both free and paid sponsorship opportunities; online casino startup ElephantCasino.com (http://www.elephantcasino.com) is the game's initial sponsor. Free sponsors support the event by recruiting new players in return for valuable adveritising space.
