Novatel Wireless Announces First Wireless Solution for HP's New Jornada 520 Series Color Pocket PCs

Novatel Wireless, Inc. (Nasdaq:NVTL), a provider of wireless data access solutions, today announced compatibility of the Novatel Wireless Minstrel 540(TM) Wireless Modem with HP's new Jornada 520 Series Color Pocket PCs. The Minstrel 540 Handheld modem works with the HP Jornada's bundled Pocket Inbox and Pocket Explorer applications, delivering wireless access to email, the Internet, and corporate LANs to users on the go and on the road.

"The HP Jornada 520 Series Color Pocket PCs are designed to meet the personal and professional needs of mobile consumers at a more affordable price than many other pocket PCs," said Boris Elisman, worldwide marketing manager for HP's embedded and personal systems group. "With its wireless Internet connectivity, the Minstrel 540 complements the on-the-go HP Jornada Pocket PC user experience as it offers the ability to stay in touch and accomplish personal and business tasks when away from the home and office."

"Our close relationship with HP allows us to be first to market and seamlessly combine the Jornada 520 series of Pocket PC with our existing Minstrel 540 Wireless Modem," said John Major, CEO, Novatel Wireless. "We are committed to offering our Pocket PC customers a complete wireless solution with the latest in wireless access, performance, and flexibility."

The Minstrel 540 is available with GoAmerica or Omnisky service that allows mobile HP customers to securely access and process corporate data, view and edit Microsoft Word and Excel attachments, send and receive email and browse the Internet. The complete wireless solution is available through HP's Web site at www.hpshopping.com or by calling 1-888-999-4747.

The Minstrel 540 operates at 19.2 kbps full duplex using the Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) network delivering impressive functionality at considerable speed. The CDPD network sends and receives packet data over existing analog cellular voice networks, which keeps usage rates low. CDPD is currently the fastest wide-area wireless network available nationally.
