SpectraLink and Siemens Develop HiPath Digital Interface

New Interface Enables Mobile Users to Access Siemens' Exclusive optiGuide Features While on the Move

SpectraLink Corporation (Nasdaq:SLNK), the leading manufacturer and supplier of workplace wireless telephone systems, and Siemens (NYSE:SI) Enterprise Networks LLC, a leader in next-generation solutions for enterprise-wide communications, today announced development of a digital interface that provides integration between SpectraLink Wireless Telephone Systems and Siemens' HiPath(TM) and Hicom(R) enterprise communication platforms. This new digital interface offers both advanced functionality and point-and-click simplicity on SpectraLink Wireless Telephones. As part of Siemens' HiPath MobileOffice portfolio, the new interface will allow SpectraLink Wireless Telephones to support a host of enhanced digital PBX functions provided by interworking with the Siemens' HiPath and Hicom communication platforms.

This integration will allow users access to a Siemens exclusive, the optiGuide(TM) display, the context-sensitive user interface supported on Siemens global industry leading optiset(R) E telephones. Thus this integration enables a host of enhanced phone features for simplified and mobile access. Those features include call forwarding, conferencing, call transfer and many others -- features which allow the SpectraLink Wireless Telephone user to stay more connected with the office while mobile in the workplace.

The development of a digital interface for Siemens' HiPath and Hicom communication platforms furthers SpectraLink's strategy of integrating with one of the industry's top-selling and most advanced enterprise telephone systems. Siemens is one of the largest resellers of SpectraLink's Link Wireless Telephone System(TM) (Link WTS) and the recipient of SpectraLink's Premier Reseller of the Year Award for 2000. The Link WTS is the U.S. market leader with more than 7,000 systems installed. The interface will be available on the Link WTS in May 2001.

"We have experienced tremendous success reselling the Link WTS with our HiPath and Hicom products," said Martin Schneider, Director Product Management and Technical Planning, Siemens Enterprise Networks LLC. "The optiset E interface delivers all the features and strengths of the Siemens digital PBX to the SpectraLink Wireless Telephones, creating a very powerful combination. This is the kind of functionality required by mobile workers, such as doctors and nurses who are constantly on the go throughout a building. Now, they can utilize their SpectraLink Wireless Telephones to accelerate communication of vital information quickly and effectively throughout a hospital or other expansive facility."

"The optiset E interface gives us the opportunity to address the mobile communication needs of Siemens' global customers," said Mike Cronin, SpectraLink's vice-president of sales and marketing. "We are proud to be working together with Siemens to strengthen our wireless product offerings."

Siemens Enterprise Network's global installed base positions Siemens as a market leader in communication platforms. Siemens Enterprise Networks has more than one million customers representing almost 70 percent of the Fortune 500 companies in 160 countries. These customers utilize more than 70 million workpoints, nearly 10 million IP-ready optiset E telephones and 2.5 million communication platforms. By unifying products developed jointly with a Siemens partner, HiPath MobileOffice solution portfolio is a powerful example of Siemens' strategy of product investment, partnership, acquisition and services put into practice.
