Yahoo! Everywhere and Google Join Forces to Offer Award-Winning Search Technology to Wireless Internet Users

Google Inc., developer of the award-winning Google search engine, today announced that Yahoo! Inc. has integrated Google's fast and highly relevant wireless search technology into its wireless offerings. In addition to retrieving personalized content and services, on-the-go Yahoo! users can now take advantage of the Google search engine to browse and access Internet web pages from any web-enabled mobile phone.

Available via web-enabled phones across the United States, Yahoo! features Google's WAP search service, which enables users to search and browse more than 2.2 million WML and HDML pages contained in Google's WAP search engine index. Ideal for mobile users, the service enables users to manage their wireless and mobile communication needs from one convenient location. Additionally, Google provides Yahoo! users the power to view millions of HTML web pages. Google's proprietary search technology automatically converts HTML web pages into a format optimized for WAP phones.

"Yahoo! has the largest global mobile audience and we are pleased to offer that audience Google's superior search technology as a complement to the Yahoo! Directory," said Anurag Mendhekar, director, Yahoo! Everywhere. "Yahoo! Everywhere is focused on working closely with companies like Google to develop innovative and compelling mobile data services for consumers."

"As an extension to our existing partnership with Yahoo!, Google and Yahoo! Everywhere are enabling wireless users to take advantage of the world's largest web search index anytime, and just about everywhere," said Sergey Brin, Google's president and co-founder. "Together, we are providing the most comprehensive source for finding the right information on the web. As the web gets larger, Google scales and performs better, offering users the most advanced search experience available today both on the desktop and beyond."

The award-winning Google search engine serves more than 70 million searches per day, with approximately half of these searches performed on the company's home page at http://www.google.com. Google also offers a wide variety of custom search service products and currently provides its search technology to more than 100 companies in 30 countries. Customers include Yahoo! and its international properties; NEC Corp., developers of BIGLOBE, a leading Japanese portal; and NetEase, one of the largest portals in China. Wireless partners include OmniSky, Nextel, Palm Inc. and Pixo. In addition to its growing roster of international companies, the Google search engine is available in 26 languages, and can be accessed from WAP-ready, Palm, and i-mode wireless devices.
