Cross Match Technologies Inc. Announces the Release of MV5 Mobile Biometric Fingerprint Capture Device

Cross Match Technologies, Inc., a leading global provider of fingerprint identification solutions, announced the release of the MV5(TM) Fingerprint Capture Device. The MV5 is the industry's first hand-held device to interface with the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Crime Information Center (NCIC) 2000 database to search for missing or wanted persons.

Rugged, durable and portable, Cross Match's MV5 provides immediate capture for search of a fingerprint(s). When combined with the NCIC 2000 or an Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) the MV5 can verify a suspect's identity while at a traffic stop or crime scene. Quick response capabilities save time and help ensure that known offenders aren't released in error.

Ted Johnson, Chairman and CEO of Cross Match, stated, "The compact size, affordability and image capture quality of Cross Match's device, make MV5 the most practical handheld scanner in the industry today."

The MV5 will be introduced to the public on May 14-17 at the FRENZY - Forensic Sciences & Crime Scene Technology Conference in Washington, May 15-17 at CTST CardTechSecurTech in Las Vegas and May 20-23 at the American Association of Airport Executives in New Orleans.

Captured fingerprint image(s) are automatically transferred to a laptop, PC or mobile data terminal (MDT) via universal serial bus (USB) cable. The MV5 combines digital image capture and portability, while maintaining clear, forensic-quality, 500 dpi images. The MV5's fingerprint-capture area remains generous, providing sufficient image size and quality to meet the most demanding of applications while the design is small and lightweight enough to afford flexibility and convenience.

Building on Cross Match's tradition of Forensic Quality Optics, the MV5 can be deployed as part of a mobile system in environments including automotive, watercraft, and aircraft. Potential applications include: Highway Patrol, Local Government, Federal Investigation and Special Forces, Crime Scene and Evidence Collection and Missing Children Identification Programs.
