DELSY Makes Its Mark in "Smart", Secure, Mobile Signatures Standards

Fingerprint sensor producer joins ranks of international technology leaders in mSign Consortium

DELSY Electronic Components, technology leader in biometric fingerprint scanning, today announced its induction into the acclaimed mSign Consortium, at the CTST show.

DELSY constitutes the newest addition to the 35 corporation-strong organization, whose combined mission is to develop a unified standard for digital signature in the multi-billion dollar global mobile e-commerce industry. The Consortium consists of the most successful global players from the mobile communications, information technology and device manufacturing industries. Other members include Siemens, Deutsche Telekom, mobile operators E-Plus Mobilfunk, D2-Vodafone, T-Mobil and VIAG Interkom, smart card manufacturers Gemplus and Orga Kartensysteme GmbH, Bank of Tokyo, Mitsubishi and Hewlett-Packard.

"We strongly support the development of unified m-commerce standards," said Hans Jurgen Pohs, DELSY's Chief Executive Officer. "Biometric fingerprint sensors are a superior, convenient alternative for m-business because attaching the authentication key to a user eliminates the need for PINs and passwords. By joining mSign, we aim to secure a place for biometrics in the emerging m-commerce security marketplace and in daily life."

"We consider DELSY to be the ideal, convenient security solution. We welcome it to the Consortium and look forward to partnering in the timely development of standards for m-business," said mSign spokesman Joszef Bugovicz. "Our shared knowledge base and resources will ensure the development of standards that are biometrics-friendly."
