Intermec On the Road With Microsoft Mobile Experience Tour

Intermec Technologies Corp. today set out on a cross-country tour with a key business associate -- Microsoft Corp.

The Microsoft Mobile Experience Tour, headed for its first stops in San Jose and San Francisco, Calif., takes Microsoft and a select group of associate companies on an 11-city trek that ends June 30 in New York. The tour, all packed into a 45-foot Mobile Theater, will roll into each of the cities for two to five days of events, seminars, executive briefings and FanFest activities.

The tour, designed to provide "everything you need to know about mobile computing," includes presentations by industry experts, wireless computer and device demonstrations and executive wireless deployment workshops.

Intermec products featured on the tour include the company's new PocketPC Intermec 700 rugged PDA, its 6651 notebook computer with a built-in digital camera, its MobileLan(R) 2102 wireless access points, its Model 70 device and its Windows CE-based 5020 handheld computer.

"Intermec is at the forefront of developing devices and applications based on Microsoft Pocket PC and Windows CE that are helping to make the world more wireless-enabled," said Derek Brown, product manager for the Mobile Devices Division at Microsoft Corp. "These products make Intermec an important part of this tour."

"Our customers require multi-function capabilities and the ability to integrate their mobile and wireless activities throughout an entire enterprise. In addition to its rugged devices designed for Pocket PC and Windows CE operating environments, Intermec offers key business and supply chain software applications for vertical marketplaces. Solutions include the company's industry-leading RoutePower(R) software for Direct Store Delivery companies; ArciTech(R), comprehensive workforce automation software for field service technicians; and i-gistics(R), Intermec's newest Pocket PC offering for logistics and proof-of-delivery applications.

"We believe Microsoft, with its Windows CE and Pocket PC systems, is the best choice for extending enterprise applications into the mobile marketplace," Miller said.

Features of the tour include:

-- Enterprise Executive Wireless Deployment Workshops, a half-day workshop for senior executives interested in wireless network and enterprise deployment strategic and planning issues;

-- Enterprise Wireless and Mobility Executive Briefings, presentations for IT professionals;

-- Mobile professional and consumer events, including CompUSA

Demo Days and Pocket PC FanFest. To participate in FanFest, users must bring a Pocket PC with them.

In addition to Redmond, Wash., cities to be visited include San Jose; San Francisco; San Diego; Los Angeles; Dallas; Atlanta; Chicago; Washington, D.C.; Boston and New York.
