OmniSky and AlterEgo Join Forces to Help Enterprises Mobilize Their Intranet Applications

Strategic Marketing Agreement Brings Wireless Access to the CorporateIntranet; Partnership Furthers OmniSky Strategy to Provide Easy Connectivity to Business-Critical Enterprise Applications

OmniSky Corporation (Nasdaq:OMNY), the innovative provider of award-winning wireless applications and services, and AlterEgo Networks, a leading provider of enterprise software for enabling the pervasive Internet, today announced a strategic marketing agreement that brings wireless access to the corporate intranet for mobile professionals.

According to an IDC survey of enterprise network executives, access to internal server-based files was ranked the second most important application among remote workers, after e-mail access (Source: 2000 IDC 500 Series: Preparing for the Mobile Enterprise, December 2000). In another recent study of IT managers and business decision-makers by Yankee Group, 52 percent of respondents indicated they have wireless connectivity now or will have it within the next two years, and another 26 percent plan to adopt it in the future (Source: Wireless Connectivity for the Enterprise: 2001 Survey Analysis, March 2001).

The combination of the OmniSky wireless e-mail and Internet service with the AlterEgo Mobile Web Server(TM) will allow enterprise employees to securely access business-critical enterprise information and applications residing on their corporate intranets. As part of the agreement, AlterEgo will promote OmniSky's wireless services to its enterprise customers, and OmniSky will market the AlterEgo Mobile Web Server to its enterprise customers. The companies also agreed to work together to develop next-generation solutions to meet the needs of the corporate enterprise, including the potential incorporation of OmniSky's proprietary Os OneTap technology, which enables efficient two-way data exchange between handheld applications and the Web, into the AlterEgo Mobile Web Server platform.

"Both AlterEgo and OmniSky have made a commitment to accelerate the wireless industry through improved usability, performance and user experience," said Gady Nemirovsky, vice president, business development for AlterEgo Networks. "Together, we can offer a compelling suite of applications and services that incorporate the AlterEgo Mobile Web Server and OmniSky's innovative services to add real value to the mobile enterprise."

"Our agreement with AlterEgo furthers our strategy to provide easy connectivity to major enterprise applications and thereby increase the productivity of the mobile professional," said Kristine Stebbins, vice president of marketing for OmniSky. "Our award-winning services and the AlterEgo Mobile Web Server offering combine to create an exciting productivity solution for any enterprise that wants to mobilize its intranet applications for the benefit of its mobile workforce."

OmniSky provides a range of access to corporate and personal e-mail, including Microsoft Outlook behind the firewall and up to six POP3 e-mail accounts. Through partnerships with a number of leading middleware providers, OmniSky also offers secure server-based e-mail access to Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino, along with Internet service that includes the broadest range of content optimized for delivery to mobile devices.

The AlterEgo Adaptive Performance Suite includes patent-pending mobile-Web infrastructure platform software for enabling the pervasive Internet. The flagship product, AlterEgo Mobile Web Server, provides a robust, scalable, and secure infrastructure solution that enables enterprises, content providers and carriers/ISPs to extend their existing Web infrastructures to the mobile Internet. Using this technology, companies are able to easily extend their access to mission-critical information and application services from any mobile device.
