OmniSky Announces Agreement With Extended Systems to Deliver Wireless Corporate E-mail Solution for Palm OS and Pocket PC Users

Deal Gives Mobile Professionals Wireless Access to Corporate E-mail; Furthers OmniSky Strategy to Provide Easy Connectivity to Major Enterprise Applications

OmniSky (NASDAQ:OMNY), the innovative provider of award-winning wireless applications and services, today announced a strategic marketing agreement with Extended Systems (NASDAQ:XTND) to provide corporate IT managers a secure solution for wirelessly extending corporate e-mail and, in the future, other mission-critical business information to their employees.

Together, OmniSky's service and Extended System's XTNDConnect Server will offer a compelling package to IT managers. By deploying these products and services, IT managers will be able to easily and securely extend their mission-critical enterprise information to Palm OS and Microsoft Pocket PC devices equipped with OmniSky's wireless service. Under the agreement, Extended Systems will promote OmniSky's award-winning wireless e-mail and Internet service to its enterprise customers. In addition, OmniSky will market Extended System's XTNDConnect Server synchronization and device management solution to its enterprise customers. XTNDConnect Server allows IT managers to easily extend corporate information, such as groupware applications from Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino as well as information from any ODBC-compliant database application, to mobile devices.

"Consistent, secure and seamless access to corporate e-mail is critical for today's mobile professionals," said Kristine Stebbins, vice president of marketing for OmniSky. "By working with Extended Systems, we can offer all the components--from server solutions to access, software, hardware and services--that IT managers need to enable their employees to access behind-the-firewall information securely. The XTNDConnect Server provides both flexibility and control, and in tandem with our access and services, makes a powerful offering. This collaboration has been well-received by our enterprise customers."

One example of the successful collaboration between OmniSky and Extended Systems is Katten Muchin Zavis (KMZ), a national commercial law firm with more than 450 attorneys in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C. OmniSky offered KMZ seamless integration with Extended System's XTNDConnect Server that synchronized KMZ's e-mail, calendaring system and address book. The solution supports Lotus Notes and ensures a high degree of network security because it sits on the server side of KMZ's firewall.

"One challenge our firm was trying to meet was how to correspond more conveniently with our clients," explained KMZ information systems director Peter Durr. "The handheld solution powered by OmniSky was just the answer. No phone jack. Just turn it on and you're sending e-mail."

Added Scott Stingley, alliance manager for Extended Systems, "OmniSky helps take Extended Systems wireless. Together, we provide enterprise customers with a seamless package of wireless access to their corporate data."

In addition to accessing corporate e-mail, contacts, and calendar information through XTNDConnect Server, OmniSky subscribers have access to all of the other OmniSky features - personal POP3 e-mail accounts, instant messaging, a rich set of optimized content organized into an intuitive portal, the ability to search and surf the Web, and a directory that lets users save information directly to their contacts application with a single tap, using OmniSky's proprietary Os OneTap technology.

In addition, OmniSky and Extended Systems will engage in a series of joint marketing and industry education activities such as partner programs and web marketing. The two companies will cross-market their respective offerings to current and prospective customers. The companies also agreed to collaborate on the development of next-generation wireless solutions for enterprise customers.
