OmniSky's Award-Winning Service for Wireless E-Mail and Internet Combines With Popular iPAQ Pocket PC's Brilliant Color Screen, Processing Power and Easy Portability; Complete Solution Offered With Sierra Wireless AirCard(R) 300 Wireless Modem

OmniSky Corporation (Nasdaq:OMNY), an innovative provider of award-winning wireless applications and services, today announced that the OmniSky service is now commercially available for the highly acclaimed Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC. OmniSky focuses on providing the industry's best user experience for mobile professionals to wirelessly access e-mail and the Internet on industry-leading handheld devices. The service is already popular among users of the Hewlett-Packard Jornada Pocket PC.

The OmniSky service for the iPAQ Pocket PC takes advantage of the brilliant color, processing power, and easy portability of the iPAQ handheld to deliver convenient wireless access to e-mail and the web. The service uses the familiar Pocket Internet Explorer browser, making it easy to surf to practically any website, including those that use rich media and Flash technology. OmniSky also uses its Os OneTap feature to make it easy for users to find information on the web and save it directly into the Microsoft Outlook Calendar, Contact and Notes applications.

The OmniSky service for the iPAQ Pocket PC allows users to easily access Microsoft Outlook e-mail behind the firewall and up to five POP3 e-mail accounts, with proprietary compression that enables faster e-mail downloads. Users can also forward e-mail attachments to other e-mail accounts.

"The Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC has become the must-have handheld for mobile professionals across the United States in the last year," said Kristine Stebbins, OmniSky's vice president of marketing. "After testing a pre-release version of the OmniSky service with iPAQ Pocket PC users, we are enthusiastic about the combination of the rich user experience of the OmniSky service with the innovative iPAQ handheld and the Sierra Wireless AirCard 300 wireless modem."

According to IDC, sales of Pocket PC handhelds are expected to reach 8.4 million per year by 2004. "The Pocket PC platform, with the full-color Microsoft Internet Explorer browser and integrated Outlook applications, is gaining tremendous momentum among mobile professionals," said Rogers Weed, general manager of the Mobile Devices Division at Microsoft Corp. "The Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC is a key factor in this trend. Now that the OmniSky service is available for the iPAQ Pocket PC, iPAQ customers have access to a superior mobile wireless solution."

"Sierra Wireless is committed to developing comprehensive wireless solutions for the handheld market with leaders like OmniSky," said Jason Cohenour, senior vice president, distribution for Sierra Wireless.
