Pharos Pocket GPS Navigator Will Help Guide the Microsoft Mobile Experience Tour Truck Across Country

Utilizing Pocket PC and Pharos Pocket GPS Navigator, the Mobile Experience Tour truck will navigate easily and comfortably through 11 major U.S. cities

Using the Pocket PC and Pharos' Pocket GPS Navigator, Microsoft Corp. is rolling into 11 U.S. cities with an innovative Mobile Experience Tour.

Microsoft's Mobility Group has designed the tour to provide insight on new and exciting mobile computing technologies, including Pharos' own Pocket GPS Navigator, a complete navigational solution for the Pocket PC. The tour will feature a 45-foot rolling Mobile Theater, packed with an array of the very latest in wireless and mobile device technologies.

During Microsoft's Mobile Experience Tour, Pharos will be showcasing its Pocket GPS Navigator, along with uncovering its new Web-based Wireless Mobile POI (Points of Interest) feature, which will enable users to request real-time locations of local banks, gas stations, hotels, restaurants, and identify them with smart descriptive icons on the navigation map. This feature will be integrated with Pharos' Pocket GPS Navigator, which interfaces directly with the Pocket PC, continually updating the user's position for precise, reliable navigation. The Pharos system provides Pocket PC users with a highly accurate, yet affordable navigation solution. Automated voice and visual prompts provide the driver with turn-by-turn directions, allowing the driver to maintain eye contact with the road.

"We are very excited to participate in the Mobile Experience Tour led by the Microsoft Mobility Group," said Tom Mitchell, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Pharos. "This tour gives a great live demonstration on how a Pocket PC becomes a powerful navigation and telematics device with our Pocket GPS Navigator. At a fraction of the price of a built-in car navigation system, Pharos' Mobile GPS System gives people on the go peace of mind; they will be able to easily locate their destinations and get there with accurate turn-by-turn directions."

"We are excited that the Pharos Mobile GPS Navigator for the Pocket PC will be providing convenient, precise navigational guidance as the Microsoft Mobile Experience Tour truck travels between the two U.S. coasts," said Derek Brown, product manager for the Mobile Devices Division at Microsoft. "The Pharos Mobile GPS system is the ideal tool to use during an event such as this and really takes advantage of some of the key functionality of the Pocket PC like audio and full color screens."

Combined with the Pocket PC, Pharos' Pocket GPS Navigator is an inexpensive, flexible alternative to traditional in-car navigation systems. The Pocket GPS Navigator includes an ultra compact GPS receiver, complete US map coverage, fast zoom and search functions, and full GPS displays including speed, heading, altitude, latitude, longitude, precise time, and individual satellite details. Currently, the product is available for $299.95 (MSRP) at CompUSA.
