Synergy Solutions' SlideShow Commander To Be Outfitted For Pocket PC Handhelds

Popular Palm OS Application Offers Presentation Prowess To Multitude of Devices

Synergy Solutions, the applications development division of BarPoint.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: BPNT), today announced its commitment to develop and market applications for the Pocket PC family of handheld devices. Starting with SlideShow Commander, which is currently available for Palm Powered devices, next quarter Synergy will offer a new version that supports handheld devices running Microsoft's Pocket PC operating system.

SlideShow Commander, a success in its first six months on the market as a Palm OS software application, changes the way professionals deliver PowerPoint presentations. Enabling the user to view, control and even annotate a live PowerPoint presentation directly from his or her handheld device, frees the presenter to focus on communicating with the audience.

"We are bringing the functionality professionals want to their handheld devices," commented Alan Jones, BarPoint's vice president of software sales and marketing. "Given our success in the Palm OS platform, and the rapid adoption of Pocket PC as another handheld standard, we will provide software solutions that work on the handheld of choice for our customers. SlideShow Commander is planned to support wireless and wired implementations on both the Palm OS and Pocket PC platforms, in conjunction with a Windows powered laptop or desktop PC."

While preserving the option of using the personal computer at any time during the presentation, presenters are finding a new freedom to interact with their clients rather than their presentation equipment. SlideShow Commander shows the slide image on the handheld screen, allowing the presenter to highlight specific image or text by underlining or drawing a circle around it with the handheld's stylus and have it instantly projected to the audience. Other features enable the presenter to navigate slides using the buttons on the handheld, view the notes and titles of all slides in the presentation, jump to any slide, track the time and pause the presentation for demos or discussions.

Commercialized and distributed by BarPoint's Synergy Solutions division, SlideShow Commander was developed in conjunction with research conducted at Carnegie Mellon University. "Microsoft has helped fund the research that resulted in SlideShow Commander," said Dr. Brad Myers, head of the Pebbles Research Project (see http://www.cs.cmu.edu/ 7/8pebbles) at Carnegie Mellon's Human-Computer Interaction Institute, which developed the software technology. "We are delighted that it will be available to a wider audience through Synergy's support for Microsoft's Pocket PC platform."

SlideShow Commander is currently available for Palm OS devices and can be purchased through the Synergy Solutions Web site (www.synsolutions.com) or through the following retailers: Office Depot, J & R Computer World, Datavision, RCS Computer, CDW, Buy.com, Amazon.com, Dell.com, Staples.com, PDAmart.com, Aafes and Gateway.
