Versatile Mobile Systems To Launch Groundbreaking Mobile Java Application in U.K.

June Show in Birmingham To Highlight Mobile eCRM Solution

Versatile Mobile Systems (Canada) Inc. (CDNX: VMS), a leading mobile commerce solutions provider, today announced that it will unveil its latest mobile Customer Relationship Management technology at "Retail Solutions 2001". The conference, which will be held June 5 - 7 at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham England, is attracting over 6,200 key decision makers from a diverse range of retail sectors.

Versatile's "Sales Supervisor" application will be showcased within the Symbol Technologies exhibit at Stand C10 in Hall 17. Both the handheld application and the back office wireless communications server have been written in Java. Java technology enables rapid development of mission-critical applications that are versatile, reusable and portable across middleware while protecting IT investment and preventing vendor lock-in. This will eliminate any possibility of obsolescence as handheld computing platforms evolve.

The Sales Supervisor product allows the mobile sales professional to create orders at the customer site, selling products based on that customer's historical sales information residing on the mobile handheld computer. With easy access to product pricing, automatic order confirmation, driver directions, shipping instructions and communication back to head office, Sales Supervisor is a solution for companies who seek the benefits of a reduction in paper work, fewer errors and faster time to get goods to their customers.

"We're seeing a tremendous growth trend in organizations investing in mobile computing and wireless technologies to automate the mobile workforce to gain competitive advantage," said Mike Allen, Sector Director - Channel, Symbol Technologies Ltd. "Versatile Mobile Systems is one of the first business partners of ours to take the lead in the development of robust applications that provide our joint customers with rapid return on their investment, as well as so many intangible benefits such as increased customer satisfaction. Their recent European success at companies such as LM Solutions is but one example of the great strides Versatile is making in the mobile commerce arena."

"The development of Java-based mobile applications demonstrates our commitment to enhancing the productivity of the mobile worker," said John A. Hardy, Chairman and CEO of Versatile Mobile Systems. "Our continued development of a comprehensive software product line that operates on all versions of Symbol's advanced handheld computer technology will address the largest portion of the mobile commerce market, best meeting our customers' needs."
