ACCESS Enables Wireless
Information Appliance Networks
With AVE-Blue Embedded Bluetooth Protocol Stack
ACCESS to Demonstrate
Capability
At Embedded Systems Expo and Conference (ESEC) in Tokyo
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif./TOKYO, Japan June 26, 2001 ACCESS Co., Ltd.
introduced AVE-Blue, a wireless communication protocol stack for embedded
information appliances based on the Bluetooth version 1.1 specification. By
seamlessly integrating with ACCESS’ NetFront®
browser, the defacto standard browser for Internet appliances, AVE-Blue can be
used to easily create a wireless network for devices such as PDAs, car
navigation systems and digital cameras. By using the OBEX (Object Exchange)
application protocol, the wireless network can exchange NetFront browser data,
such as address books, bookmarks and e-mail. ACCESS will demonstrate a wireless
network using the AXIS 9010 Bluetooth Access Point from AXIS Communication AB
and browser installed reference terminal using the Hitachi SH-3 and CSR BlueCore
chips at the Embedded Systems Expo and Conference (ESEC) in Tokyo (booth No.
5-52).
“We’re talking to many Internet appliance manufacturers that want to
integrate Bluetooth capabilities into their next-generation cell phones, PDAs,
music players, automobiles, digital cameras, and other devices. Our AVE-Blue
solution is very appealing because it is completely integrated with our popular
NetFront browser,” stated Toru Arakawa, president and CEO of ACCESS.
Easy Application Development
AVE-Blue offers a convenient development environment for first-time Bluetooth
application developers. By developing applications with Visual C++,
engineers can speed new applications to market by emulating the environment on a
PC. Moreover, the test work required to use the official Bluetooth logo is
simplified with the TCI test control interface. AVE-Blue further speeds
Bluetooth application development with its intelligible APIs, sample
applications for each profile, and configuration features for selective profile
implementations.
A Total Internet Solution
It’s very easy to add Bluetooth functionality to an Internet appliance
that’s already using ACCESS’ NetFront browser. AVE-Blue seamlessly
integrates with the ACCESS component-ware family, including ACCESS’ AVE-TCP
v6.0, an embedded TCP/IP protocol stack that supports the billions of IP
addresses available with the IP v6 standard. AVE-PPP serial communication
protocol is tightly connected to the AVE-Blue serial port profile through the
‘BTCOMM’ API. In this way, ACCESS provides a total Internet solution.
