Brience Introduces the Second Generation of Carrier-Grade Mobile Processing Software at Java One

Brience 3.0 provides support for 250 plus mobile Internet appliances, and immediate integration with more than 35 content and application software vendors

Brience(TM), Inc. a leading provider of mobile processing software today announced the availability of Brience 3.0(TM).

Based on a highly scalable Java and XML processing architecture, Brience 3.0 enables global 2000 enterprises to create and extend applications and service offerings to meet diverse mobile technology requirements. Brience 3.0 is the first mobile platform to support online delivery, offline delivery, two-way notification, content and application processing, content aggregation, mobile workflow enablement, and high-grade reliability, availability and scalability within a single integrated product.

"The launch of Brience 3.0 marks the next step in achieving the Brience vision of an 'adaptive infrastructure,' said Rod McGeary, CEO of Brience. "With the complexity of mobile technology increasing, and the increased need for rapid return on technology investment, we believe companies need to make very strategic IT investments that are business-driven. That's what the adaptive infrastructure is all about -- the constant availability of applications and content driving business value through increased productivity and profitability."

With Brience 3.0, enterprises use a single XML/JAVA-based software product to fulfill their mobile presentation and interaction requirements. By sourcing virtually any content and applications that exist inside a customers' corporate database, Intranet and Internet applications, applications servers, message queues and legacy business applications, Brience 3.0 is able to transform them for multi-channel delivery.

"Mobility will increase operating efficiencies, improve customer satisfaction, and increase revenue by effectively extending the business processes for the mobile workforce," said John Distefano, Vice President and Director for Cap Gemini Ernst & Young's Mobility Center of Excellence. "Brience is well positioned as organizations prepare to integrate and update their existing systems for this new channel."

"Brience's ability to help customers optimize their business processes for mobile computing complements HP's vision of mobile e-services, as well as our own e-services solutions offerings, including the NetAction Software Suite," said Nigel Ball, vice president and general manager, HP E-Services Partner Division.

"The ability to efficiently scale across diverse channels of content, applications and business processes is what attracted us to Brience," said Craig Franklin, executive vice president, KPMG Consulting, Inc. (Nasdaq:KCIN), one of the world's largest consulting companies. "We are currently working with the Brience ubiquitous architecture to rapidly implement convergent mobile solutions to help achieve increased efficiencies and cost savings, both in the enterprise and service provider models."

"The additional mobile functionality provided by Brience 3.0 continues to exceed the dynamic wireless needs of our customers," said Rich Cremona, president of Sprint PCS' business sales division. "The Sprint PCS alliance with Brience allows us to remain the wireless voice and data leader by enabling us to offer more scalable and adaptable mobile solutions to our customers."

"Our goal is to bring the most advanced, scalable mobile solution to our customers -- one that delivers value through dynamic offerings and a personalized user experience," said Ram Menon, chief strategy officer of TIBCO. "The Brience -TIBCO solution achieves this goal."

Brience 3.0

Brience 3.0 is a comprehensive mobile enablement platform that allows businesses to extend their employee-facing and customer-service applications to any mobile device, delivering a meaningful user experience regardless of bandwidth and according to user preferences. Brience 3.0 provides scalable mobile service offerings quickly, for a high return on investment.

Brience 3.0 has five core components:

Mobile Processing Server -- Provides multi-channel access to business processes by sourcing, processing and optimizing the delivery of static, dynamic and transactive information through a highly scalable XML-based transformation and interaction engine. Includes support for high-availability architectural deployment including fault recovery deployment, testing and monitoring tools.

Integrated Experience Studio -- Highly intuitive, Java GUI-based collaborative development environment enables end-to-end mobile application design for new processes, in addition to optimizing existing business processes across multiple channels. The studio integrates with applications written in JSP, ASP, HTML, JavaScript, BroadVision, Vignette, ATG and ColdFusion, in addition to sourcing information from databases, XML feeds, Tibco and MQSeries. The studio provides prepackaged templates for channels, user segments, business processes and off-the-shelf packages.

Interactive Notification Server -- Allows interactive message delivery to global users. Interactive notifications are sent, based on complex user-defined rules incorporating both push and pull events to support intelligent messaging, encoded callbacks and acknowledgements.

Offline Productivity Server -- Enables mobile users to work offline by providing database and application synchronization through a J2ME-based architecture, both wireline and wirelessly. Also supports dynamic, data-driven applications and leverages core features such as notification and event-driven processing for remote update management.

Edge Network Server -- Enables prioritization and intelligent routing of network-aware mobile applications. Integrates priority of service at the network and application levels and provides bandwidth-based optimization of experience for online mobile users. Premium customers can be routed and serviced, based on rules and profile definition, to deliver fully personalized service.
