Changepoint Expands Mobile Offering for PSA Customers

Adds Support for the Palm Platform and Announces the Second-generation Release of Its Offline Browser Client

Changepoint Corporation, a leading provider of Web-based business process automation solutions for IT services organizations, today announced that it would extend the mobile capabilities of its PSA application and support multiple mobile devices.

To that effect, the company also announced today the general availability of the Changepoint Palm(TM) client, as well as plans to release a second-generation offline browser client by August 2001. Changepoint also will consider other devices, such as the PocketPC, in the future.

The company's decision to expand its mobile offering is in response to growing market and customer trends towards mobility solutions, namely the escalating numbers of mobile sales, services and management staff within IT services organizations and the proliferation of such devices within enterprises.

According to Gartner Dataquest's Worldwide PDA Forecast, worldwide shipments of PDAs, which totaled 5.1 million in 1999, will total 33.7 million units by 2004, with shipments in North America dominating the total PDA market. The report predicts that PDA demand will be driven by some key factors, including the need to access important personal and business data via small, lightweight, portable devices and the integration of wireless communications that extend the reach of corporate and personal data.

"Changepoint will support select PDAs that enhance productivity. We will extend key functions of our PSA application which complement the critical business processes of IT services organizations," said Paul Lupinacci, Vice President, Product Management, Changepoint Corporation. "Historically, we have led the market with mobile offerings such as our disconnected client, wireless e-mail notifications and guest access. These new offerings solidify our lead and provide customers the options they require to support a mobile workforce."
