Changepoint Extends PSA Offering to the Palm Platform

Changepoint Corporation, a leading provider of Web-based business process automation solutions for IT services organisations, today announced the first release and general availability of the Changepoint Palm(TM) client.

The Changepoint Palm client is a PDA-based disconnected client that is compatible with Version 6.0 of Changepoint's PSA software.

"Changepoint historically has focused on the needs of `road warriors' through our disconnected client and wireless e-mail notifications," said Paul Lupinacci, Vice President, Product Management, Changepoint Corporation. "A survey of our customers showed high interest in a Palm-based client, so with this offering, we continue to extend our mobility strategy in ways that make sense to our customer base."

In a survey done at Changepoint's user conference in October 2000, 93 percent of the respondents indicated the Palm device already was deployed within their organisations. More than 73 percent of respondents indicated they `must have' disconnected use with this mobile device, and 79 percent indicated they would deploy a Changepoint Palm client by Q2 of 2001.

The focus of this release of Changepoint's Palm client is to provide the key functionality needed by sales, project consultants and management employees.

"In an IT services business, capturing time and expenses, and critical project or customer information for employees travelling or at customer sites, is critical to operational efficiency and customer satisfaction," added Lupinacci. "Our approach always has been to make it easier for users to get information that is relevant to their role and activities."

The first release of the Changepoint Palm client provides functionality for time and expense entry, task statusing, as well as access to pertinent resource and customer information. With the Changepoint Palm client, travelling staff can now use their time away from the office more productively. Benefits include:

-- Receiving automatic reminders about tasks that are late or need statusing, or expense reports that have been approved or rejected.

-- Providing project managers with a quick synopsis of the work that was performed on the trip by entering task comments.

-- Submitting time and expenses more efficiently, which in turn facilitates more accurate and timely invoicing.

-- Saving their preferred resources and contacts on the Palm client, and quick search and retrieval of phone numbers for

business contacts or colleagues.

Changepoint's Palm offering consists of a Palm-based application, databases and a conduit application to manage synchronisation. Synchronisation can be accomplished via serial/USB cradle connected to the workstation. The application supports Version 3.1 of the Palm OS.
