Covigo is introducing the new Covigo Platform version 2.6 - which will enable developers to create mobile applications in hours or days versus weeks or months. Beginning today developers can access the new Platform by registering for the Covigo Developer Program. Program participants will be able to download an evaluation copy of the Platform and develop mobile application software for free. The company announced the Developer Program today at Sun Microsystems' JavaOne conference, one of the largest developer shows in the world with over 25,000 attendees. Those interested in downloading the new Covigo wireless software version 2.6 and becoming part of the Covigo Developer Program should visit http://developer.covigo.com. Covigo is targeting to build and support a community of 500 wireless pioneers and thought leaders by July 1, 2001.
Through the Covigo Developer Program, participants will be able to share ideas and brainstorm with the best minds. They also will be able to exchange applications and participate in newsgroups. The Covigo Platform version 2.6 has many new enterprise class features that allow companies and software vendors to develop and deploy powerful mobile applications from the ground up. By providing a platform that is easy to use, Covigo's mobile software will dramatically reduce development time and cost. The programming environment is completely Java-based and allows integration with all types of data sources including XML, HTML, JSPs, EJBs, JDBC and packaged application API's. The Covigo Platform The new software Covigo Platform version 2.6 consists of three components - Covigo Studio, Covigo Engine and Covigo Insight and provides increased flexibility for users.
The Covigo Studio provides a team-based visual programming environment for rapid and integrated development and deployment of voice and wireless data applications. Based on a user-centric process modeling approach, the Platform separates user-interaction workflow from presentation design and data source integration. It allows enterprises to build mobile applications from the ground up or as extensions to existing applications. The application then is deployed on the Covigo Engine, a highly scalable server for executing and managing mobile applications. Based on J2EE standards, Engine provides a robust and reliable execution environment specifically designed for deploying voice and wireless data applications. The Covigo Engine runs on BEA Weblogic or any J2EE compliant application server. An added feature of the 2.6 version release is the Covigo Console, which allows for administration of the Covigo Engine including repository management, property configuration and log browsing. Covigo Insight is a mobile usage reporting and analysis tool that provides constant, real-time customer intelligence to enable business managers to quickly evaluate, improve and evolve mobile applications.
