Extended Systems Introduces New Bluetooth Personal Area Network Manager for Windows

Extended Systems (Nasdaq:XTND), a leading provider of mobile data management and short-range wireless connectivity solutions, today announced a July release of XTNDConnect Blue Manager for Windows, a software application that enables end users to manage their Bluetooth personal area network from a single, intuitive interface.

The product premiers at Bluetooth Congress 2001, Stand C5, June 5-9 in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

XTNDConnect Blue Manager provides PC and peripheral manufacturers with a turnkey Bluetooth user interface that can be bundled with notebook and desktop PC products. It allows users to connect to and share information with multiple electronic devices, from PDAs (personal digital assistants) cellular phones and digital cameras to LAN (local area network) access points. XTNDConnect Blue Manager simplifies the process of locating and querying devices in range, initiating connections, and performing repetitive Bluetooth functions such as transferring files and exchanging business cards. The product will be sold to manufacturers as a separate application module of Extended Systems XTNDConnect Blue SDK for Windows -- a software development kit for Windows platforms.

Noting that Bluetooth technology has been primarily designed for mobile devices, Don Baumgartner, business unit manager for Extended Systems' Universal Mobile Connectivity group, says the Windows platform is a key companion for handheld devices. "XTNDConnect Blue Manager gives users a positive desktop experience by making Bluetooth accessible and easy to use."

Pricing and Availability

XTNDConnect Blue Manager is expected to be available the first week of July. List price is $20,000. For more information, call Product Marketing Manager Charlie Denton at 800/235-7576 or see Extended Systems Web site at www.extendedsystems.com.
