Fujitsu PC Corporation Offers One of the First Pen Tablets with Windows CE H/PC 2000

H/PC 2000-based PenCentra 200 Designed Specifically for Mobile Workforce Field Applications

Fujitsu PC Corporation (FPC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited (TSE:6702), today announced it is now shipping the PenCentra 200, one of the first pen tablets PC to feature compatibility with the Microsoft(R) Windows(R) CE Handheld PC 2000 (H/PC 2000) operating system.

FPC chose to integrate this robust, highly flexible operating system into the PenCentra 200 to extend the functionality of business applications for mobile professionals.

H/PC 2000 features a thin client application that provides access to any desktop application running on a Windows server using Terminal Services. The OS also includes Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0-compatible browser, which provides users greater Internet content and display functionality when viewed on the PenCentra's full-size VGA screen.

The PenCentra 200, designed for mobile workers in field applications, such as field service, inspections, manufacturing, distribution, and market research, can benefit from using the H/PC 2000 operating system that offers support for a wide range of other devices while providing the power, flexibility and reliability of Windows.

Weighing just two pounds and measuring only 8.9" (length) by 6.5" (width) by 1.3" (height), the PenCentra 200 is packed with performance, productivity and convenience features. It is powered by a high-performance 129MHz Toshiba TX3922 MIPS RISC processor, 32MB standard RAM (upgradeable to 64MB) and 16MB of non-volatile flash memory for user storage. The H/PC 2000 operating system and installed software are resident on 32MB of ROM. The 8" diagonal display is available in two versions: a frontlit color reflective SSTN VGA display with a liquid filled digitizer for a sharp display in sunlight, or a bright, backlit color transmissive DSTN VGA display for indoor needs.
