Intermec Technologies Corp. has been selected to provide wireless backbone capabilities to the new SAP Global Solution Center, a world-class development project and education Center at SAP Americas headquarters in Newtown Square, Penn.
Intermec handheld, pen-based and mobile computers also are among products included in the Center.
Created as part of the expansion of the SAP headquarters campus, the Global Solution Center offers an environment where SAP developers and experts can join with customers, partners, and academic and business thought leaders to create e-business strategies for individual companies, specific industries and diverse market applications.
Intermec is one of many companies participating in Center inaugural development projects. The Intermec MobileLAN(TM) wireless system installed at the Center provides the WLAN (wireless local area network) backbone, allowing users in the Center to be wirelessly connected to the network. In addition, MobileLAN power, a member of the MobileLAN family, provides electrical power to the wireless LAN access points over a standard Category 5 Ethernet cable, simplifying installation by eliminating the need for external power supplies.
In addition to its wireless technology, the Intermec 6642 pen tablet computer, 6651 notebook computer, 5055 vehicle-mount computer and 700 Series mobile computer are among products used at the Center. These products will host solutions designed by Global Solution Center experts to extend SAP functionality wirelessly to Center clients and their companies.

MobileLAN systems focus on providing wireless freedom of movement within complex enterprise network environments. These interoperative devices and systems protect customers' technology investments by supporting and adopting wireless standards, providing product migration paths, and making installation and management of wireless LANs easier.
