Motorola and Oracle Move Forward with MobileBlueprint Alliance with the Certification of Motorola's WAP and Voice Servers with the Oracle9i Application Server Wireless Edition

Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) and Oracle Corporation (Nasdaq: ORCL) announced today that key components of MobileBlueprint Version 1.0 -- the certification of Motorola's WAP server and Voice Server with the Oracle9i Application Server Wireless Edition, Joint Development Kit and Development Labs -- is now in place.

MobileBlueprint is designed to help Carriers, Wireless Service Providers and Enterprises create an open-standards platform for wireless applications with the security, reliability, and scalability associated with Motorola's and Oracle's leading technologies. The blueprint is based on the following five key components: gateway interoperability validation, an integrated platform, joint application development environment, System Configuration/deployment guidelines, and customer solution labs.

Oracle and Motorola continue to deliver on MobileBlueprint, a wireless e- business development and deployment framework, by certifying the interoperability of Motorola's WAP and Voice servers with Oracle9i Application Server Wireless Edition. The two companies have also simplified the development of voice-enabled e- business applications by integrating the Motorola Voice Application Development Kit with Oracle JDeveloper and OracleMobile Online Studio. Wireless developers will be able to use Oracle JDeveloper, Oracle' s premier Java and XML Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and the Motorola Voice Application Development Kit to quickly develop voice applications using easy- to-use wizards and visual tools. These applications can then be tested online using OracleMobile Online Studio, without having to download and install additional software. Oracle and Motorola will preview the integration between the Motorola Voice Application Development Kit and Oracle JDeveloper this week at Oracle OpenWorld Berlin with demonstrations at Oracle's DemoGrounds and Motorola's booth. Additionally, Oracle's developer network, Oracle Technology Network (OTN), will offer a sneak preview of voice- enabled application development on Oracle9i.

A key component of MobileBlueprint, the joint development kit will simplify and boost developer productivity at every major stage of application development, debugging and deployment. Motorola and Oracle have also incorporated MobileBlueprint into the Invisix lab in Stockley Park, England (Invisix- Joint Venture alliance company between Motorola Inc and Cisco Systems Inc; specializing on wireless IP systems integration for cellular carriers, enterprises etc) where developers can do integration testing.

The interoperability certification, joint development kit and labs are further proof that both companies are committed to their efforts to simplify wireless e-business applications development and deployment through a standard infrastructure. The joint development kit will be available from the Oracle and Motorola developer sites.

MobileBlueprint Version 1.0 can be previewed at http://www.mobileblueprint.com. This website will be updated as each key component of the architecture is implemented and released. In addition, the system is set up at Oracle's Labs and accessible at Motorola/Invisix Centers around the world.

"During the first quarter of 2001, our joint marketing and business development efforts with Oracle were well received by potential customers, reinforcing the need for this type of systematic framework for carriers, ISPs and application developers," said Bob Molnar, Corporate Vice President, Middleware, Platforms and Technologies for Motorola's Internet Software and Content Group (ISCG). "This effort is an example of Motorola's portfolio, which allows us to customize, install and maintain interoperable solutions for our customers."

"Oracle and Motorola have a long history of working successfully together to bring advanced mobile services to the market," said Denise Lahey, CEO of OracleMobile. "Oracle9iAS Wireless Edition integrated with Motorola's WAP and Voice Servers provides a complete, open platform for building and delivering mobile applications."
