OmniSky and Ericsson Co-operate to Deliver Wireless Data Services over Bluetooth and GPRS

OmniSky Corporation (Nasdaq:OMNY), today announced that OmniSky International and Ericsson are working together to deliver OmniSky's wireless e-mail and Internet service via Ericsson's powerful Bluetooth and GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) mobile phones in Europe. Ericsson and OmniSky International will co-operate to ensure interoperability between their Bluetooth and GPRS products and services, and will co-market solutions to European mobile network operators and distributors. The two companies successfully demonstrated a Bluetooth solution, integrating the Palm V/Vx and OmniSky's service with the Ericsson T39 and R520 phones, at CeBIT in March of this year.

The relationship allies OmniSky's compelling wireless communications and web applications -- including corporate and personal e-mail, optimized and `open' web content, messaging and location-based services -- to Ericsson's industry-leading mobile hardware -- including the T39 and the R520 Bluetooth-enabled phones.

In addition, the lightweight OmniSky Bluetooth adapter for the Palm V/Vx handheld allows for wireless communication with Ericsson phones such as the forthcoming T39 -- avoiding the need for cables and awkward infrared connections.

The GPRS capabilities of Ericsson's T39 and R520 phones will greatly enhance the OmniSky experience, allowing faster data speeds, `always on' connectivity and an almost instantaneous connection set-up.

Neville Street, SVP and president of OmniSky International, said, "Ericsson delivers the connectivity to allow a genuinely fast, convenient wireless experience, and OmniSky delivers the e-mail and web applications that bring customers to the wireless data environment. It's a potent combination."
