OmniSky Announces Plans to Support Microsoft Mobile Information Server for Access to Corporate E-Mail, Calendar and Contacts

Demonstrates Commitment to Mobile Solutions for the Enterprise as Silver Sponsor of Microsoft Tech Ed 2001 Forum

OmniSky Corporation (Nasdaq:OMNY), a leading global provider of award-winning wireless applications and services, today announced plans to support the Microsoft Mobile Information 2001 Server, underscoring the company's commitment to provide enterprises with secure solutions that enable their mobile workforce to interact with corporate e-mail, calendar and contact information using wireless devices such as handhelds, mobile phones and laptops. OmniSky used its participation as a Silver Sponsor of the Microsoft Tech Ed 2001 forum this week to spotlight the company's plans to develop a solution that supports Mobile Information Server for enabling secure access to essential Microsoft Exchange information on WML-enabled Pocket PC and Palm OS devices.

"Enabling mobile devices for real-time interaction with corporate e-mail, calendar and contact information represents a core focus for OmniSky," said Kristine Stebbins, OmniSky's vice president of marketing. "We are working to ensure that a wealth of solutions is available to the enterprise for mobile-enabling their workforce. Our plans to support the Mobile Information Server should provide an excellent solution for a mobile professional to use the OmniSky wireless service to securely interact with Microsoft Exchange information."

The OmniSky wireless e-mail and Internet service supports a wide range of the leading Pocket PC and Palm OS handheld devices. With the Mobile Information Server deployed behind the firewall, OmniSky anticipates that enterprise subscribers of the OmniSky wireless service will be able to use their Pocket PC or Palm OS device for secure online access to their Exchange Server to wirelessly read, send and receive corporate e-mail messages, schedule appointments, and look up, add or delete contact information. They also should be able to receive a notification on their mobile phone when new messages arrive.

In addition to providing access to corporate e-mail, the OmniSky wireless service allows subscribers to access up to six personal POP3 e-mail accounts, with proprietary compression for faster e-mail download speeds, and the ability to forward attachments. The OmniSky service allows users to browse hundreds of Web sites optimized for their mobile device, free surf to almost any Web site, and conduct secure e-commerce transactions. The optimized Web content includes services for helping mobile workers stay productive while on the road, such as airline and travel services, maps and navigational assistance, business and technology news, remote document management, and sales force automation services.

OmniSky's support for Mobile Information Server will also extend to OmniSky's recently announced wireless applications and services platform, a comprehensive wireless technology platform designed to enable telecommunications carriers, online service providers, hardware manufacturers, and others to rapidly deploy next-generation wireless services to their customers. OmniSky's wireless applications and services help these providers create a competitive advantage and reduce the time required to deliver innovative wireless services that users value.
