Alice Systems has entered into an agreement to deliver its GPRS products, Alice Connect and Alice Login, to GSM operators affiliated with Western Wireless International, including operators in Austria, Iceland, Ireland, Croatia, Slovenia and Bolivia.
Western Wireless International has placed an order for delivery of Alice Systems' GPRS software clients Alice Connect and Alice Login. Western Wireless operates wireless networks in 8 countries, and has a GSM network under construction in Slovenia. Operators currently included in this agreement are tele.ring (Austria), NeuvaTel (Bolivia), TAL hf (Iceland), Meteor Mobile Communications Limited (Ireland), VIPnet (Croatia) and Western Wireless International (Slovenia). These operators will use Alice Connect and Alice Login as part of their respective core GPRS offering.
"This agreement is very important for Alice Systems," says Jörgen Lantto, president of Alice Systems. "Western Wireless International is an expanding operator and covers many interesting and growing GSM markets. We are delighted that they have decided to deploy both Alice Connect and Alice Login in these markets. The timing for this agreement is also excellent, considering that we are now releasing new versions of our products, and also the availability of new GPRS terminals, which means that operators are now starting to offer full-scale GPRS services," Lantto continued.
The agreement enables Western Wireless International to use products from Alice Systems, which offer easy-to-use GPRS access from laptops and PDAs. One of the recent development made by Alice Systems is that Alice Connect now supports PocketPC, which means that Western Wireless International's operators can enable their subscribers to use Compaq's iPAQ and similar devices to access e-mail and the Internet over GPRS. Alice Login will further enable Western Wireless International to offer security conscious corporate customers end-to-end security when accessing the corporate LAN over GPRS.
