Jabber and Antepo Form Strategic Alliance to Provide Instant Messaging and Presence to Wireless Carriers

Companies Complete Development of New Jabber Wireless Gateway, extending Jabber Instant Messaging and Presence to SMS and WAP.

Jabber, Inc., the premiere developer of open software for real-time communications and instant messaging (IM) applications and an independent operating subsidiary of Webb Interactive Services (NASDAQ: WEBB), and Antepo, Inc., a leading provider of open mobile messaging, today announced that they will combine their respective expertise and technologies to address the growing demand of wireless carriers for messaging solutions which bridge multiple wireless devices for real-time communication and presence.

Under the agreement, Jabber, Inc. will bundle Antepo's existing SMS and WAP Gateway ComponentsTM with the Jabber Communications PlatformTM, providing a turn-key solution to wireless carriers in North America. For its part, Antepo will both market and resell the Jabber Commercial Server to European and South American carriers as part of its carrier-class mobile Instant Messaging solution.

Wireless and Multimedia Messaging services are booming and already account for a significant share in carriers' revenues. According to Mobile Lifestreams, 20 billion SMS should be sent monthly, in Europe only, by December 2001, twice as much as the volume sent one year before.

"Mobile carriers have a major opportunity to turn Instant Messaging into a successful business. Working with Jabber's commercial products, designed for both scalability and reliability, we can now address carrier requirements for high availability, multi-access messaging products," said Max Seguineau, Chairman and CEO of Antepo, Inc. "We have been focused on messaging mobility for some time, and found that Jabber's open approach to instant messaging and presence the most flexible platform from which to launch our new mobility products. We're excited about the business opportunities and have already received significant interest for our combined products in Europe."

"This partnership accelerates our move into the wireless space by several months, allowing us to go to market with Jabber based solutions for the wireless carrier that connect the wired Internet with the wireless world. Antepo's focus and expertise on SMS and WAP, and their development of a connectionless interface to our Communications Platform met our requirements exactly", said Don Bergal, Vice President of Marketing at Jabber, Inc. "Jabber has already successfully demonstrated their ability to deliver a highly scalable solution to major corporations and carriers such as the Walt Disney Internet Group and France Telecom. We expect to expand that to a growing number of wireless operators. Antepo's development upon Jabber demonstrates the power of our open platform in capturing worldwide innovations."
