Starfish Gains Two More SyncML Conformance Awards

Wireless Phone and Pocket PC With TrueSync Applications are Certified At SyncFest

Today, Starfish Software, leading provider of end-to-end synchronization and infrastructure solutions for the wireless Internet, announced two new TrueSync(R) device solutions have been certified SyncML conformant: TrueSync Stack Windows CE devices, and TrueSync Device Stack.

The SyncML certification testing was performed using a TrueSync data synchronization application on a Compaq iPAQ(TM) Pocket PC running Windows CE 3.0 with Microsoft Pocket Outlook data. This marks the first time any Pocket PC device has received SyncML conformance. Starfish also received certification for its TrueSync Device Stack on a wireless phone. This stack allows over the air two-way synchronization of phone numbers and other data between the phone, wireless services, other SyncML devices, and the TrueSync Synchronization Server. The certification occurred in Tampere, Finland last week at the SyncML organization's interoperability test, or "SyncFest."

"Starfish is proud to lead the mobile and wireless industries with SyncML synchronization solutions," said Perry Tobin, vice president of engineering for Starfish. "This interoperability certification assures that device manufacturers and enterprises will have a full range of SyncML conformant TrueSync solutions for their users to manage mobile data."

"Compaq is extremely pleased to have the iPAQ Pocket PC used as a reference device in this important event," said Cindy Box, Compaq's director of marketing for iPAQ Mobile Solutions. "Synchronization of data between iPAQ Pocket PCs, wireless services and corporate applications is key to the success of anytime data availability." Compaq announced on June 19 that it had shipped one million iPAQ Pocket PCs worldwide.

This latest award enhances Starfish's suite of SyncML conformant solutions. Starfish received SyncML certification in April 2001 for its TrueSync Synchronization Server, a solution that provides carrier class server-based data synchronization with wireless devices, Internet portals and corporate applications. Starfish pioneered multi-point synchronization, enabling data updating and reconciliation with the single click of a button between servers, devices and desktop applications.
