Red-M and Palm Work Together to Provide Seamless Mobility for Handheld Computers

Collaboration Brings World-Class Bluetooth Solutions to Palm Handheld Users

Red-M(TM), a leading supplier of advanced Bluetooth(TM) networking product solutions, today announces it is working with Palm, Inc., a pioneer in the field of mobile and wireless Internet solutions and a leading provider of handheld computers, to ensure seamless mobility between Palm(TM) handheld computers and Red-M's award winning Bluetooth networking products.

Working closely together through the companies' respective partner programs, Red-M and Palm will be able to easily access each other's latest technological innovations. Marking the first step in this relationship, Red-M cited its recent announcement of the Blade, a Bluetooth clip-on for the Palm Vx handheld computer.

As part of the ongoing relationship through their respective developer programs, Red-M and Palm will work together on the advancement of Bluetooth. The Red-M m-dev Program gives Palm access to a global solution development program designed for the rapid deployment of Bluetooth applications. Palm's PluggedIn Program offers Red-M a comprehensive resource for product development and distribution. The program will help Red-M quickly create and launch new add-ons that further expand the capabilities of Palm handheld computers. As part of this effort, Red-M will be supporting the Palm Bluetooth APIs with future software versions. The companies will also participate in joint marketing activities to further promote the adoption of Bluetooth to Palm handheld users and Palm OS(R) developers. Palm will be testing its current and future Bluetooth solutions on Red-M products, including the 3000AS access server and 1000AP access point.

"Palm is committed to delivering the best user experience possible in Bluetooth 'hot spot' environments," said John Cook, senior director of product marketing at Palm, Inc. "By working with Red-M, we will be able to leverage the latest Bluetooth technology and offer Palm customers the innovative products to access rapidly growing Bluetooth networks."

This working relationship will help ensure customers will receive the latest in wireless connectivity and streamlined access to Bluetooth networks using handheld computers. Simon Gawne, Vice President and co-founder at Red-M, explains, "Red-M considers handheld computers to be a critical application for Bluetooth. Our relationship with a leading provider of handheld computers enables both Red-M and Palm to collectively expand the market for advanced Bluetooth-powered products."
