Sun Microsystems Chooses Ellipsus Systems' Mobile Application Server Suite infiniteMASS to Enhance Mobile Services Delivery for Wireless Carriers

Ellipsus Systems, Inc., an innovative provider of mobile infrastructure software products, today announced that Sun Microsystems, Inc. has licensed the infiniteMASS(tm) mobile application server suite.

Under the license, Sun Microsystems will demonstrate infiniteMASS to wireless carriers worldwide as part of their blueprint of how to rapidly develop and provision end-to-end Java(tm) applications for mobile devices. Wireless carriers that are actively seeking ways to deliver rich content in advance or in support of 2.5G and 3G network implementation now have a solution they can immediately employ.

Sun initially selected Ellipsus' application provisioning technology last fall as the first proof-of-concept model for mobile Java services at the unveiling of their Wireless Center of Excellence in Kista, Sweden earlier this year.

"We are delighted that Sun has chosen to expand our relationship by licensing infiniteMASS," said G. Russell Mortenson, Ellipsus CEO. "Showing service providers how to best leverage their current infrastructure and maximize future investments is a testimony to Sun's commitment to expand its carrier-grade excellence in the wireless world as 2.5G and 3G systems are deployed."

Based on the Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE(tm)) and Java 2 Platform Micro Edition (J2ME(tm)), infiniteMASS is a platform neutral middleware that adapts to a mobile operator's existing infrastructure to enable the design, development and deployment of dynamic applications and content to a broad range of mobile device types. The system supports multiple wireless application protocol (WAP) gateways, standard interfaces and easily adapts transaction records to any operational support or billing system.

The Ellipsus technology simplifies the distribution of context-sensitive applications and services for wireless carriers and application service providers. This allows wireless carriers to capitalize on their technological investments as their networks evolve, and gives consumers the ability to receive compelling, personalized services on demand.

Demonstrations of the Ellipsus software are now available at Sun's Wireless Competency Centers in Menlo Park, California and Kista, Sweden. It is also available through Sun's Wireless Services division and through Ellipsus Systems. For more information please visit <http://www.ellipsus.com>.
