Vertex Interactive Provides Material Gains for Global Textiles Giant

Saati Provided With Mobile Data Collection for Super-Efficient Materials Handling in SAP R/3

Vertex Interactive Inc. (NASDAQ - VETX), a global provider of integrated supply chain fulfillment solutions, has announced today the first stage of a multi-phased agreement, supplying its UMDC (Universal Mobile Data Capture) solution to SaatiPrint, the printing division of the multi-national textile chemical giant Saati Group.

Using UMDC, Vertex is integrating handheld terminals into Saati's existing SAP R/3 enterprise software to track and control the flow of goods and materials in Saati's worldwide production environment.

With branches in the US, South America, Asia and throughout Europe, Saati Group has a complex logistics and materials handling operation at the core of its operations. Saati's 140 dedicated logistics staff moves an estimated 10 million linear meters of textile each year for the Printing division alone. Vertex's proprietary UMDC software will allow the movement of materials within Saati to be tracked by warehouse and logistics staff, using handheld `instant identification' terminals to feed information directly back to Saati's SAP R/3 ERP solution.

The new system will dramatically increase the visibility of the flow of materials in Saati's global manufacturing operations, providing significant cost savings through reductions in the necessary stocks of raw materials. The Vertex system will also speed up order processing and ensure a higher degree of accuracy in delivered orders.

Under the deal, valued at around 350,000 Euros ($300,000) for the first phase, Vertex will provide a full range of hardware, software and services. "We chose to work with Vertex Interactive because the one company offers us a full solution and not just a piece of software," comments Angelo Casero, Logistics Manager at Saati's global headquarters. "The Vertex consultants clearly understood our business and knew what we needed to improve. They can integrate and configure the systems and train our staff as well as provide ongoing support for the hardware and software."
