Audiovox Communications Corporation (ACC), a subsidiary of Audiovox Corporation (NASDAQ: VOXX) and the U.S. leader in CDMA (code division multiple access) handsets, today announced that it will ship its new personal digital assistant (PDA), this fall just in time for the Holidays.
This first in a series of feature-rich Audiovox PDAs will provide users with all the functionality and capabilities of standard PDAs and advanced, wireless communications features. For business executives, harried homemakers and busy students, ACCs PDA offers digital calling capabilities, through a hands-free attachment to an ACC CDMA-ready tri-mode handset (CDM-9100), and enables users to surf the net, jot notes, send E-mails and conduct a host of business-oriented and other activities in a sleek, chic blue-and-silver unit that weighs less than 6 ounces.
Powered by Intels SA1110 (Strong RAM) 206-MHz processor, the new hand-held wireless unit offers users a generous 32 MB of RAM (SDRAM) and 32 MB of ROM (Flash ROM).
When integrated with ACCs CDM-9100 tri-mode, CDMA handset, which operates on the 800Mhz Amps/CDMA and /or 1900 PCS frequencies, Audiovoxs slim and lightweight personal digital assistant provides businesspeople, students and other users with a full compliment of interface capabilities through its included CF card slot (compact flash memory card), SD card slot (SD or SDIO card), Infrared Port (max 115.2 Kbps), a stereo headphone jack, cradle port and AC adapter jack.
ACCs new PDA comes fully loaded with a host of sophisticated software applications that include a word processor, file manager, media player, games, spread sheet, back-up utility and a calculator, all of which can be viewed on the devices full-color, thin-film transistor (TFT), reflected type LCD display. Whatever the need, ACCs PDA can handle it quickly, efficiently and effortlessly.
The PDA also comes with a variety of other accessories, including a USB cradle, AC adapter, Companion CD-ROM, stylus, soft carrying case and a serial connector cable for ACCs CDM-9100 tri-mode, CDMA handset. Other available accessories can be purchased for the new PDA, wherever it is available. These options include a CF card expansion pack, 32 MB and 64MB CF memory cards, 56K CF Fax modem, plug-in cigarette lighter charger, serial cradle, stereo ear microphone with one-button remote control, external power battery, leather portfolio case, PC card expansion pack and a travel charger.
