BSQUARE & Socket Communications Team Up To Offer Complete Bluetooth Solution for Windows CE

Partnership Benefits OEMs and Application Developers With Faster Time-To-Market and Easier Development Path

BSQUARE(R) Corporation (Nasdaq:BSQR) and Socket Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:SCKT) today announced a new technology partnership that offers complete Bluetooth hardware and software solutions for the Microsoft Windows CE operating system.

These comprehensive solutions will enable OEMs, service providers, and application developers to quickly and easily add Bluetooth wireless connectivity to Windows CE-based embedded systems.

Socket Communications, the leading handheld-peripherals manufacturer, provides customers with plug-in Bluetooth cards, embedded Bluetooth modules, and Bluetooth protocol software. BSQUARE, the embedded systems industry's leading Windows CE integrator, delivers custom software, OEM integration services, critical development tools like the WinDK(TM) Extension for Bluetooth device driver toolkit, and SmartBuild(TM) Product Design Packages. The SmartBuild reference designs support Socket's embedded Bluetooth modules, and include all the hardware, software and documentation needed to create a customized Windows CE device.

Together, the two companies offer OEMs and developers one-stop shopping for proven, integrated solutions that can be built over multiple platforms like Pocket PC, Platform Builder 3.0, and BSQUARE's SmartBuild product line. Several major OEMs have already leveraged the Socket-BSQUARE relationship to speed the introduction of Bluetooth solutions for products as diverse as Web tablets for medical and supply chain applications, PDAs and Pocket PCs, embedded controllers, and security systems.

"We're seeing a lot of Bluetooth development projects these days as OEMs either retrofit Bluetooth functionality to existing Windows CE products, or design entirely new products and decide to include Bluetooth from the start," said Bill Baxter, CEO of BSQUARE Corporation. "This relationship with Socket will ultimately make it easier for both companies' customers to get the Bluetooth solution they need in record time."

"This technology partnership leverages the strengths of both firms, and the benefactors will be OEMs seeking to Bluetooth enable their devices," said Kevin Mills, CEO of Socket Communications. "Having reference design platforms supporting our Bluetooth hardware and software will certainly shorten the time-to-deployment for many OEMs."
