Culinary Software Services Releases ChefTec PDA BarCoder Software for Symbol Handhelds

Mobile Foodservice Professionals Can Easily Scan Inventory

Culinary Software Services released software to work with the Symbol SPT 1500 scanner handheld computer, which allows foodservice professionals to scan physical inventory items and create orders on the fly. The Symbol unit has a scanner built in that easily picks up the bar code information and looks up the data associated with it. ChefTec PDA BarCoder software allows users to scan inventory items and have the data instantly appear on their PDA. By HotSyncing(R) with their PC, physical inventory is instantly calculated and orders automatically generated.

"Due to customer demand we created barcode software so operators can scan their inventory, making data entry even faster. Users can scan a product's bar code and the inventory item will automatically appear in the PDA software on the Palm," said Brian Bennett, President of Culinary Software Services.

"Taking physical inventory with our bar code scanning-integrated handheld devices is a perfect application for increased efficiency and productivity," said Doug Lloyd, Director, Worldwide Hospitality Markets at Symbol. "We see this proven supply chain technology being increasingly applied to areas outside the traditional transportation and logistics pipeline."

With the ChefTec PDA BarCoder there are two options for using barcodes. From within ChefTec, users can create unique barcodes on labels and place the labels on the shelves where inventory is kept. The other option is scanning the food purveyors' barcodes that come on their inventory.

Using the ChefTec PDA BarCoder helps users take inventory and create orders in a fast, easy and accurate manner. The BarCoder cuts physical inventory time by 50%. ChefTec PDA BarCoder is available now and starts at $995. For more information please visit www.culinarysoftware.com/prod0019.htm.
