E-Power International Announces Palm Platform Alliance

E-Power International Inc., a diversified manufacturing and service company, announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary GPS Worldwide will develop and support the Palm OS and the resale of wireless solutions based on integrated wireless asset control using the Palm OS. In a strategic effort to simplify the basic access and control of sensitive and powerful GPS enabled client and server based technologies, E-Power International will support a Houston-based support and development effort to extend its current desktop solutions to wireless PDA users across the globe.

"E-Power International, for the benefit of its location services affiliate program (LSA), is striving to enable users of all handheld devices to view high-value documents and graphics on the road as well as access, secure and control personal and corporate mobile assets. GPS Worldwide initially supported development for Windows-powered PDAs through international development partners and now we're expanding our offerings to include Palm, which at this point still owns about 70% of the handheld market," says company CEO Mark McCollum.

"Our clients demand scalable and easy to use solutions. This announcement is part of our management team's plan to make life easier for us as well as our partners," said Jim Rowton, COO. "I am a mobile person and appreciate technology that simplifies our approach to selling and supporting this technology."

Initial tests which involved the CDMA-based, Kyocera Palm phones were provided by Verizon. Secondary tests started in September 2001 also include implementation of the same device using SprintPCS as a provider. E-Power is also a member of the Kyocera developers group, having initiated this relationship in May 2001.
