EDUCOM and AmikaNow! Announce EAS-Wireless Mobile Messaging Server Designed for Mobile Email Management

EDUCOM, a provider of integrated email management and archiving solutions, and AmikaNow!, today announced the release of the EDUCOM EAS-Wireless notification server.

Installed behind the corporate firewall and integrated with Microsoft Exchange, EAS-Wireless utilizes AmikaNow!'s wireless email notification engine and the AmikaHighlighter(TM) abbreviation software, to provide interpreted and shortened email content tailored for mobile devices. EAS-Wireless keeps enterprise users in touch with their desktop, whether they are down the hall at a meeting or traveling in a different country. EAS-Wireless is targeted at the 1 billion users(1) of enterprise email today and the growing number of wireless Internet users on email expected to reach 1.2 billion by 2005(2).

Through a simple web-based interface, EAS-Wireless users can set personal filtering rules to ensure they are only notified of relevant email, and can tailor the summarization to fit their personal mobile devices. Summarization allows the gist of an email to be understood at a glance both eliminating the need to read long emails on small screens and reducing the high cost associated with receiving long emails on a wireless device.

Carrier support of mobile email can be leveraged by EAS-Wireless supporting 2-way capability for replying to email highlights through the wireless email services from the Pager or PCS service providers. In an upcoming release, the Amika(TM) notification engine will be integrated with Microsoft's Mobile Information Server to provide 2-way email support on any browse-capable WAP device.

"We are excited by the partnership with EDUCOM as it helps bring our affordable mobile email solution to a wider range of users. Most mobile email business users out there are being asked to pay $200 per seat while our solution allows them an entry at one quarter of that price. We can also support over 1000 users on a single EAS-Wireless server while allowing the customers to work with their existing cell phone and Pager subscriptions," said Dr. Sue Abu-Hakima, Founder, President/CEO of AmikaNow!

EAS-Wireless will be sold through EDUCOM's wide reseller channel to enterprise users. The product is already in trials and is expected to be popular with companies looking for a lower cost alternative to the expensive mobile servers that require end users to adopt expensive specialized mobile devices. EAS-Wireless allows any corporate user to be notified of important emails on their PCS phone, PDA or Pager. It is independent of the wireless carrier and allows global roaming.

"EDUCOM is encouraged by this very promising partnership. AmikaNow! cutting edge technology will enable us to bring EAS-Wireless very quickly to market. AmikaNow!'s technologies demonstrate that it is possible to reduce the deluge of irrelevant emails to a mobile device while staying true to the real need of mobile users. EAS-Wireless ensures that relevant email is received quickly so that users are able to be more responsive."
