Extended Systems Marks 100th Bluetooth Design Win

Manufacturers Around the Globe Attracted to Windows and Embedded Software Kits

Extended Systems (Nasdaq:XTND), a leading provider of mobile data management and wireless connectivity solutions, today announced that it has licensed its Bluetooth software development kit, XTNDAccess Blue SDK, to a leading Japanese telecommunications company, marking Extended Systems'100th Bluetooth design win within 18 months of the release of its first Bluetooth software product.

Extended Systems' Bluetooth software has been instrumental in the development of many products that will premier this week at World PC Expo Sept. 19-22 in Tokyo, Japan. Leading Japanese companies that are developing and qualifying products based on Extended Systems' Bluetooth software include NEC, Fujitsu and many others who are leading Bluetooth development in Japan, where more than 30 percent of the products worldwide have been certified by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group. Products include cell phones, notebooks, PDA's, PC and compact flash cards, USB adapters, network access points and printer adapters.

According to Extended Systems' CEO and President Steve Simpson, these are the type of products that will help build a worldwide network of Bluetooth wireless connectivity.

"Extended Systems has provided the infrastructure for a global wave of Bluetooth product development from Europe to North America and throughout Asia," said Simpson.

Companies that have licensed Extended Systems' Bluetooth software and the industries they represent include 3Com and Xircom for the PC industry; Motorola and Mitsubishi (TRIUM, France) for telecommunications; Red-M, NEC and 3Com, among others, for networking; Hewlett-Packard and NEC for imaging; Palm for PDAs; and Visteon for automotive products.
