TouchPointMobile and Fujitsu TeamPad(tm) combine to optimize mobile computing performance

Integrated Software Solutions Inc. (ISS) announced today that it has successfully ported its TouchPointMobile application to Fujitsu's TeamPad(tm) mobile platform, creating a powerful Fujitsu MobileReady(tm) solution that gives retailers and other businesses a seamless, cost-effective approach to integrating and implementing hardware and software for wireless use.

"Fujitsu's versatile TeamPad mobile computers are the ideal platform for TouchPointMobile," said Barry Henderson, vice president of application development of ISS, based in Raleigh, N.C. "Designed for wireless, networked applications, Fujitsu TeamPads are easy for mobile workers to learn and operate because they support the familiar Windows CE environment, and their versatility makes them easily adaptable for a wide variety of uses."

In addition, the TeamPad-TouchPointMobile combination offers an unbeatable, optimized mobile solution. "Any industry that wants to offer 'on-the-go' customer service or perform high-speed transaction-processing functions associated with workflow can take advantage of this new Web-enabled technology," said Henderson. "The TeamPad-TouchPointMobile solution is ideal for retailers to expedite customer checkout with real-time credit-card verification and price lookup; for medical personnel requiring access to patient history within seconds; even for equipment-rental providers to optimize service to customers in the store or in the parking lot. Fujitsu's TeamPad and ISS' TouchPointMobile are the perfect combination to increase the customer service experience, satisfaction and loyalty."

According to IDC, a global industry research firm, handheld devices retain strong momentum, even though the U.S. economy has slowed. It estimates that worldwide shipments will increase at a compound annual growth rate of 39 percent from 13.6 million in 2000 to 70.9 million by 2005, with the U.S. market representing the largest opportunity for handheld device vendors.

ISS' TouchPointMobile, using a Java development environment, XML/XSL standards and based on Windows CE technology, is a new browser-based application that allows itinerant employees to expedite customer-assisted processes from any location. TouchPointMobile is fully integrated into the enterprise and by using the TeamPad 500 outfitted with a scanner, magnetic-stripe reader and printer, employees can perform a number of customer/client-assisted procedures real-time as well as accessing up-to-the-minute reports needed to stay abreast of all the day's activities.

Fujitsu's TeamPad handheld devices are designed for wireless networking in a host of markets. TeamPad electronically empowers mobile workers to better serve their customers while connecting and sharing data. This lightweight, rugged device also offers wireless capabilities to give real-time access for workers to corporate systems, for route accounting, in-store retail, medical or a multitude of other applications.

"As a Fujitsu MobileReady Solution Provider, ISS demonstrates that TouchPointMobile combined with Fujitsu's TeamPad handheld computers, is a 'power couple' solution that's ready for work - on the road, or in the warehouse - today," said Ron Omohundro, executive vice president and general manager at Fujitsu. "The combination transforms wireless working from a 'nice to do' to a 'must do'."
