MobileQ Launches LinkScape, Customizable Messaging And Personal Information Management System, for Mobile Information Portals

Provides Secure, Multi-Lingual Access; Scotiabank Introduces Real-Time Access to Enterprise Information with MobileQ's XML-Based Software

MobileQ(TM), a leading developer of mobile software solutions, today announced the launch of the enterprise industry's first customizable messaging and personal information management system for mobile information portals (MIPs).

Called LinkScape(TM), the software is the first to provide corporations with secure, multi-tiered mobility solutions for the management of day-to-day e-mail and business applications -- such as calendar, contacts, and tasks -- and other corporate back-end software in any language and on any mobile or wired Internet device.

One of North America's leading financial institutions, Scotiabank (Toronto: BNS.TO), is the first customer for LinkScape, which offers the company's Lotus Notes users an efficient tool for "any time, anywhere" access to e-mail, as well as calendar and contacts database functions. Linkscape effectively performs the role of a desktop gateway for portions of the Scotiabank work force while complementing the company's existing VPN infrastructure.

Built on MobileQ's XMLEdge(TM) mobility platform, LinkScape creates a mobile information portal for workers that eliminates the traditional barriers between their desktop and on-the-go environments. An enhanced version of an earlier product which has been successfully trailed by several MobileQ customers, LinkScape offers multiple device support and a modular application design approach for an integrated mobile view of enterprise applications. The software supports major messaging and personal information management (PIM) platforms, including Microsoft Exchange 5.5 on Windows NT/2000 and Lotus Domino R4.6 on all Lotus Notes platforms.

LinkScape provides real-time information at any time without having to synchronize or dock mobile devices, including a wide range of Personal Communication Services (PCS) or Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) phones, Palm OS devices, RIM Blackberry devices, and Windows CE or Pocket PC devices, such as the Compaq iPAQ.

"Corporate customers want a virtual mobile desktop that follows them wherever they go, delivering their critical information in an easy-to-use interface," said Suren Pai, president and CEO of MobileQ. "Working with cutting-edge companies such as Scotiabank - that want to extend the value of their network infrastructure in a cost-effective, seamless manner for their mobile employees - we have developed LinkScape as an ideal application for our XMLEdge server solutions."

International research firm Ovum projects that the global market for mobile enterprises will be $29 billion by 2006. LinkScape's ability to scale to any network, mobile device, or language presents a solution for virtually any multinational corporate mobile enterprise.

As a productivity application, LinkScape enables mobile workers to respond more quickly, access information from any location, and work more simply, without specialized tools. For customers looking to build mobile solutions into their enterprise networks, LinkScape offers an easily-integrated architecture that can scale very quickly to accommodate greater numbers of users. The software connects directly to back-end systems so that LinkScape users receive real-time updates to information, including customer databases, contact information, and calendar changes. LinkScape is designed to support any future mobile device or browser, providing an easy upgrade for customers.

LinkScape's e-mail module provides virtually the same functionality that a desktop e-mail client provides, allowing users to manage their inboxes in a variety of ways while accessing their contact lists. Messages can be forwarded, answered, composed, deleted, and moved to other folders. Users can view appointments for any day, week, or month and accept or decline meetings. Contacts, once accessed, can be called or e-mailed directly from the contact screen. Tasks can be created, edited, removed and viewed based on priority, due data or status.

For Lotus Notes enterprise customers, LinkScape enables access to Notes from any Internet-connected desktop or from a range of mobile devices, limiting the number of Notes clients required for an entire enterprise.

LinkScape's multi-lingual capabilities are unparalleled, providing global corporations with an ideal solution for the broadest sets of internal users and partners. Already, MobileQ has engineered LinkScape solutions in various languages, including Japanese.

"Scotiabank is dedicated to providing the ultimate mobile information services for our employees, as with our customers, and we believe that our work with MobileQ will lead to the development of one of the most efficient mobile enterprise systems in the banking industry," said Albert Wahbe, Chairman and CEO of e-Scotia and Scotiabank's Executive Vice-President of Electronic Banking. "Our strategic investment in both e-commerce products for customers and smart infrastructure for our employees enables us to leverage our infrastructure to the greatest extent possible. With the installation of MobileQ's LinkScape, we can develop a more extensive mobile working environment."

MobileQ previously engineered a unique mobile banking solution for Scotiabank using a WebTV interface, offering Scotiabank customers a home banking solution over their television sets.
