Company to Implement Its RF Solution Globally to Provide BHS Production, Logistics and Distribution Centres Real Time Access to SAP(R) R/3(R) Systems
German-based BSH Bosch und Siemens Hausgerate GmbH, a global player in the electrical household appliance market, has chosen Psion Teklogix' radio frequency(RF) solutions for all of its major installations across the world.
The Psion Teklogix system enables BSH to progressively integrate wireless, real time data collection solutions throughout its global production, logistics and distribution centres with the company's SAP materials and warehouse management system.
Psion Teklogix' Integration Services Group (ISG) in Germany was selected for the role of project management, to ensure that future implementations and system enhancements are controlled and coordinated worldwide. The installation of the first distribution centre solution at BSH's Lodz, Poland facility was recently completed in under eight weeks. The next installations are planned for an additional production site in Poland and at a distribution centre in Turkey. Further installations are planned for Greece, United States and other countries worldwide.
The system installed at the Lodz distribution center is comprised of RF handheld and vehicle-mounted data collection terminals communicating with SAP R/3 through Psion Teklogix' TekRF(TM) software. The TekRF interface, developed by Psion Teklogix Integration Services Group, allows the SAP warehouse management system to direct deliveries and work orders to the warehouse floor for processing, in real time.
The Psion Teklogix mobile solution was specifically developed to easily integrate with SAP applications - regardless of the SAP release or modules deployed. TekRF extends the existing comprehensive functionality of SAP solutions and thereby helps to optimise production, logistics and distribution business functions. TekRF supports a wide range of SAP integration technologies, and ensures consistent high performance access to BSH's SAP R/3 applications.
BSH's new RF solution allows products to be electronically recorded and tracked, from components arriving in production, through to the delivery of finished goods for retail outlets throughout the world. The Psion Teklogix solution also meets BSH's specific requirement that individual appliances and their serial numbers be tracked to enable precise and timely stock control management; greater precision in tracking deliveries; and increased productivity levels of all warehouse, stock control, logistics and transport operations. The Psion Teklogix solution removes the "bottlenecks" which occur between the company's production facilities and its distribution centres. This will be a key benefit in the imminent installation at BSH's Turkish distribution centre, since it will enable improved coordination with BSH's four affiliated factories.
