3R Soft, Inc. Extends Wireless Communications Capabilities

Providing WAP and iMode Access to Email, Address Book, BBS, and Calendar

October 31, 2001

Today, 3R Soft, Inc. announced enhancements to the wireless communication option available on its MailStudio(TM) collaboration server software solution. In addition to supporting the standard email service, the enhanced wireless option will extend end-user access to the MailStudio solution's address book, bulletin board service (BBS) and calendar functions.

The MailStudio software's enhanced wireless capabilities will be accessible via wireless access protocol (WAP)- or iMode-enabled devices. 3R Soft is one of the first companies to support iMode, a wireless communication protocol that is commonly used in Japan and currently being introduced in the United States and Europe.

"The addition of iMode support is consistent with 3R Soft's strategy to equip service providers and global enterprises with leading-edge services," said Carlos Gonzales, vice president of sales with 3R Soft. "By offering capabilities that are not yet widely available, Internet service providers (ISP) and application service providers (ASP) can differentiate their service and attract new customers. With the enhanced wireless option, end users can now manage their messages, calendar, and contacts within their MailStudio accounts through wireless-enabled devices including mobile phones and personal digital assistants (PDA)."

The MailStudio enhanced wireless option has been purchased by Infoseek Japan, the leading Web portal in Asia. According to Hiroshi Mikitani, chief executive officer of Infoseek Japan, "The phenomenal growth and success of our service dramatically outpaced the capabilities of our previous email solution provider. The MailStudio solution was the best choice for us, with its tremendous versatility, scalability, and value-added features -- in particular, its wireless messaging solution."

Single-Server Support for Various Options

The MailStudio enhanced wireless option can provide both WAP and iMode support from a single server. This enables ISPs and ASPs to add options to their service offering without having to make an additional hardware investment. "Our goal is to help service providers cost effectively deliver a full complement of value-added services, all seamlessly integrated into a single software solution," added Gonzales.

Availability

New customers can order the wireless option pre-integrated within the MailStudio standard software. Current MailStudio customers will be able to add these enhanced capabilities to their MailStudio software solution.

System requirements to support the wireless option are identical to those for the MailStudio standard software. The MailStudio solution runs on enterprise-class Linux or Unix servers. For further detail on system requirements, go to
