Antepo Chooses OctetString VDE Directory Suite to Directory-Enable Wireless Instant Messaging

Interfacing Directly with Carrier Environments Increases Application Security and Flexibility

OctetString(TM), Inc. an innovative provider of virtual directory software for rapid integration of data, announced today that Antepo, the leading provider of Jabber-based multi-access Instant Messaging solutions enabling mobile access to communication and presence management, will use OctetString's VDE Directory Suite to directory-enable its products. In its ongoing efforts to provide wireless carriers with an open and flexible presence management and messaging platform, Antepo selected VDE to ensure connectivity with existing directories and storage capabilities of the telcos.

"We appreciate the universal access to storage provided by the Virtual Directory Engine," says Jean-Louis Seguineau, Chief Technology Officer of Antepo. "It enables Antepo's IM and presence platform to easily interface with carriers' environments, while minimizing operations costs, increasing data security and leveraging legacy infrastructure."

VDE's ability to provide on-the-fly mapping and translation of user and phone-book data from carriers' directories, databases, structured text files and other applications to Antepo's Instant Messaging and presence servers ensures that carriers can streamline their authentication process and offer customized services reusing original user data.

"Leveraging existing investments in data and infrastructure in real time is a growing problem for e-business customers and vendors," says Clayton Donley, OctetString's CTO. "VDE provides the tools to use and extend these investments to meet present and future business requirements."

VDE complies with standards from key industry organizations including the IETF and is 100% Java. OctetString sells and supports VDE on Windows, Linux, Solaris, HP/UX and AIX.
