CMG selected for roll-out of i-mode based services in Europe

Major European operators choose CMG's Wireless Service Broker(tm) for pan-European services

Nieuwegein, the Netherlands 1 October 2001. Today CMG Wireless Data Solutions announced an agreement with several major European operators to deploy CMG's Wireless Service Broker(tm) to facilitate the pan-European rollout of wireless data services, based on the extremely successful Japanese services model known as i-mode. CMG will provide these operators with the capability to deploy both i-mode and WAP services in European markets using one common service architecture and infrastructure. These services will be among the first to use the new GPRS mobile data networks.

CMG's Wireless Service Broker(tm) was selected primarily because of its advanced personalisation capabilities like service and user profiling and support for a wide range of business models, service management, provisioning and billing. CMG Wireless Data Solutions will give the operators fast time-to-market, the scalability and the reliability that are needed to accomplish their ambitious wireless internet mission in Europe.

"CMG has the proven ability to anticipate the functionality needed by operators," said Geert Kolthof, Vice President Mobile Internet of CMG Wireless Data Solutions, "we are proud to be selected by these operators to perform a key role in the realisation of their innovative wireless internet strategy. Innovation is - and always has been - one of the cornerstones of CMG's business strategy. The adoption of i-mode is the next logical step towards the introduction of next-generation WAP standards. WAP NG (New Generation) is the upcoming global standard for wireless applications that merges WAP and i-mode. We are ready for that future in 2G, 2.5G as well as in 3G".
