Danish Communications Leader, TDC Tele Danmark, Upgrades to MDSI's Advantex r7 Mobile Workforce Management Solution

Looks to Power Its 2,100 Mobile Workers With Advantex r7's Enhanced Scalability, Functionality, and Web-Enablement

MDSI Mobile Data Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq:MDSI)(TSE:MMD.) has agreed to upgrade Denmark's leading telecommunications provider TDC Tele Danmark A/S to the latest version of MDSI's leading mobile workforce management solution, Advantex r7.

TDC Tele Danmark has been a customer of MDSI's since 1997.

According to Orla Helgren-Nielsen, TDC Tele Danmark's Senior Vice President, Installations, "As part of our ongoing plans to increase operational efficiency, we will initially roll out Advantex r7 to 2,100 mobile workers that serve our residential and SoHo customers. We then expect to extend the solution to include field technicians that handle complex orders for our large and key account business customers. Advantex r7 offers the scalability to do that."

"We have had an excellent experience with earlier versions of the product; it has been an important tool in helping us with one of our primary goals-delivering outstanding customer service. We expect even more from Advantex r7. In particular, we are relying on Advantex's web capabilities, and its ability to manage complex orders, like maintenance or construction projects that are comprised of a series of interdependent tasks," added Helgren-Nielsen.

The solution will operate in the Danish language and will support approximately 2,100 mobile workers in service provisioning and fault correction throughout Denmark. To ensure a seamless customer service solution, Advantex will be integrated with TDC Tele Danmark's other enterprise solutions, including Clarify Front Office, and custom-developed systems for provisioning and fault administration.

Dispatchers, supervisors and technicians will be able to stay in touch throughout the workday as Advantex will transmit data between the field and head office over GSM and GPRS wireless networks. Mobile workers will initially use laptops in the field, though the company's options will remain open as Advantex supports a full array of device types, including pen-based tablets, CE devices, PDA's, and mobile phones.

According to Gerald F. Chew, MDSI's President & COO, "We are extremely pleased to receive continuing validation of Advantex r7 from long-time customers like TDC Tele Danmark. The telecommunications market is very dynamic. Companies can change shape and size or add new lines of business overnight, and Advantex r7 is the only mobile workforce management solution available that is scalable and flexible enough to rise up to those demands."

Advantex schedules service requests and, using numerous complex business rules, assigns them to the best available mobile resource. Advantex then dispatches work order details to mobile resources who use the solution to process their work throughout the day and send status updates and order completion information back to the office-all wirelessly, in real-time. This enables dispatchers and supervisors with up-to-date information to effectively monitor and manage field service operations at all times.
