EarthLink Adds Wireless Internet Browser Capability to its BlackBerry Handheld Offering

October 30, 2001

Add-on service will help EarthLink continue to further maximize its customers' BlackBerry(TM) wireless experience

EarthLink (Nasdaq:ELNK), one of the world's largest Internet service providers (ISPs), now offers EarthLink Wireless Email subscribers on-the-go access to the World Wide Web as part of EarthLink's popular BlackBerry(TM) Wireless Handheld offering.

The new service features a mobile Internet browser, powered by Neomar, that gives users secure access to Wireless Web sites, relevant content categories of their choice, Web search, and directory services. The service is offered for $9.95 per month to EarthLink Wireless Email subscribers.

"We know that Mobile Web access is important for our EarthLink Wireless Email customers," said Lance Weatherby, executive vice president of EarthLink Everywhere. "Our new mobile Internet service on the BlackBerry will let us enable our customers who lead active lives to stay connected and use the kind of content and services they rely on most."

EarthLink's mobile Internet service lets users access Wireless Web sites directly by inputting URLs via the BlackBerry's QWERTY keyboard, or using the popular Google(TM) search engine. A menu of content channels also gives subscribers easy and programmable access to financial news, stock quotes, airline schedules, flight status, and sports scores, plus handy telephone directories and driving directions. An additional Directories/Reference feature provides a zip code-based Switchboard telephone directory, a Merriam-Webster Dictionary, and conversion (www.convertit.com) service features.

The service runs on the Cingular and Motient wireless networks and is accessible in nearly all metropolitan areas throughout the U.S.
