Delivers Real-Time Notification of Mission Critical Conditions for Faster Emergency Response

October 31, 2001

Emergin, Inc., a wireless messaging software company, today announced that it has successfully completed installation of Emergin WirelessOffice 4.0 at leading FAA Operations Centers. FAA technical and facility managers use Emergin WirelessOffice to broadcast critical conditions such as security alerts, utility outages or authorization breaches to staff and security personnel located within FAA Operations Center or at external support sites.

"Instant notification of security alerts allows FAA emergency response teams to immediately take consistent, coordinated action for protection of passengers, personnel and airport property," said Michael A. McNeal, Emergin President and CEO. "Time is of the essence in responding effectively to security threats.

"We were able to upgrade the FAA's existing paging software with no downtime," according to McNeal. "The FAA had been evaluating Emergin WirelessOffice 4.0 prior to the events of September 11th, and we were able to successfully implement an off-the-shelf solution for the FAA literally within days of the terrorist attacks."

The open architecture of Emergin WirelessOffice 4.0 delivers scalable, real-time wireless messaging for business and municipal applications, including law enforcement, healthcare, manufacturing facilities, call centers and educational institutions. The software supports message volumes up to and exceeding 10,000 messages per hour.

Key Features and Benefits

The FAA and other Emergin WirelessOffice 4.0 customers benefit from the following features:

-- Improved Message Delivery Time: Emergin WirelessOffice dramatically improves delivery time for all wireless messages by minimizing system latency. The FAA was able to reduce broadcast delivery times from over an hour to just minutes for a 93% greater throughput. Message escalation is supported for instances where a recipient does not respond to a message within a pre-defined response time.

-- Group Messaging: Up to 1,000 wireless devices, including pagers, mobile phones, PDAs or Pocket PCs, can be set up as one group for real-time message delivery at the push of a button.

-- Real-Time Logs Track Message Delivery: One centralized system provides a complete and detailed log of messages sent and received. Messages can be sent on an as-needed basis or for regularly scheduled reminders.
