Extended Systems' Offers Immediate Server Sync and Management Support for the Microsoft Windows-Powered Pocket PC 2002

Extended Systems (Nasdaq:XTND), a leading provider of mobile data management and wireless connectivity solutions, today announced immediate support for Windows-Powered Pocket PC 2002, Microsoft's next-generation software for personal digital assistants (PDAs).

Extended Systems revealed today at the Pocket PC 2002 product launch in San Francisco that its XTNDConnect Server data synchronization and management software will offer immediate support to enterprise customers who are deploying or considering the deployment of Pocket PC 2002 devices.

Extended Systems CEO and President Steve Simpson says this move demonstrates the company's ability and continued commitment to support a complete range of handheld devices and device technologies, thereby minimizing device support issues for IT managers in the enterprise. And, Simpson said, because Pocket PC 2002 delivers new functionality targeted at business users and corporations, the move is strategic.

"Microsoft's focus on corporations further validates the role of PDA's in the enterprise and the value we provide to IT managers in providing the mobile data management software they need to speed deployment and maximize the benefits of handheld devices," said Simpson.

"Corporations view easy access to current PIM (personal information management) and database applications as a key element of their mobile computing standard," said Rogers Weed, General Manager for the Mobility Division at Microsoft Corp. "XTNDConnect Server addresses this enterprise need by offering secure, reliable and robust data synchronization and management support, in wired and wireless environments, for email, contacts, calendar and tasks, as well as ODBC-compliant database applications."
